Valosin‐containing protein counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its ATPase activity in vitro

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.

Studies on seasonal variation in metabolic rate related to changes in body composition with particular reference to shorebirds (Charadrii) [PDF]

open access: yes, 1992
The basal metabolic rate of three species of shorebird was measured throughout the non-breeding season. These measurements were related to change in body mass and body composition.

Millimeter-Wave InSAR Image Reconstruction Approach by Total Variation Regularized Matrix Completion

open access: yesRemote Sensing, 2018
Millimeter-wave interferometric synthetic aperture radiometer (InSAR) can provide high-resolution observations for many applications by using small antennas to achieve very large synthetic aperture.

Diversity and complexity in neural organoids

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Neural organoid research aims to expand genetic diversity on one side and increase tissue complexity on the other. Chimeroids integrate multiple donor genomes within single organoids. Self‐organising multi‐identity organoids, exogenous cell seeding, or enforced assembly of region‐specific organoids contribute to tissue complexity.

focusing on total variation minimization [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
학위논문(박사) - 한국과학기술원 : 수리과학과, 2019.8,[vi, 162 p. :]This dissertation is concerned with domain decomposition methods for convex optimization in image processing. In particular, we focus on total variation minimization which is one of the standard techniques

Hyperosmotic stress induces PARP1‐mediated HPF1‐dependent mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Sorbitol‐induced hyperosmotic stress rapidly induces reversible mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation (MARylation) on PARP1 without the signs of genotoxic signaling. We show that PARP1 autoMARylation is HPF1 dependent and forms hydroxylamine‐resistant O‐glycosidic linkages.

Hyperspectral image super-resolution via nonlocal low-rank tensor approximation and total variation regularization [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Hyperspectral image (HSI) possesses three intrinsic characteristics: the global correlation across spectral domain, the nonlocal self-similarity across spatial domain, and the local smooth structure across both spatial and spectral domains.

Organizing the interface—Plasma membrane architecture and receptor dynamics in virus‐cell interactions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Plasma membranes contain dynamic nanoscale domains that organize lipids and receptors. Because viruses operate at similar scales, this architecture shapes early infection steps, including attachment, receptor engagement, and entry. Using influenza A virus and HIV‐1 as examples, we highlight how receptor nanoclusters, multivalent glycan interactions ...

Sensor optimization in smart insoles for post-stroke gait asymmetries using total variation and L1 distances [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
By deploying pressure sensors on insoles, the forces exerted by the different parts of the foot when performing tasks standing up can be captured.
