Conserved binding mode but diverse interfaces of MreC‐PBP2 interactions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The crystal structure of abMreC reveals a conserved two β‐barrel architecture and provides structural insights into its role within the bacterial elongasome. The abMreC–abPBP2 complex model identifies the molecular basis of MreC‐mediated PBP2 recognition, contributing to the regulation of peptidoglycan synthesis.

The linear interpolation problem for totally positive matrices [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
It is shown that for two real vectors x,y there is a totally positive matrix A such that Ax=y if and only if a certain refinement of a classical (sign) variation diminishing relationship between x and y is ...

Emilin1 gene and essential hypertension: a two-stage association study in northern Han Chinese population

open access: yesBMC Medical Genetics, 2009
Background Elastogenesis of elastic extracellular matrix (ECM) which was recognized as a major component of blood vessels has been believed for a long time to play only a passive role in the dynamic vascular changes of typical hypertension.

Another Proof of the Total Positivity of the Discrete Spline Collocation Matrix

open access: yesJournal of Approximation Theory, 1996
In [J. Approximation Theory 84, No. 3, 247-264 (1996; Zbl 0863.41006)] \textit{K. M. Mørken} gave necessary and sufficient conditions for a minor of a discrete B-spline collocation matrix to be strictly positive, correcting an earlier theorem of \textit{R. Q. Jia} [J. Approximation Theory 39, 11-23 (1983; Zbl 0515.41010)].

EDNRB‐dependent endothelin signaling reduces proliferation and promotes proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition in gliomas

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Glioma cells mainly express the endothelin receptor EDNRB, while EDNRA is restricted to a perivascular tumor subpopulation. Endothelin signaling reduces glioma cell proliferation while promoting migration and a proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition associated with poor prognosis. This pathway activates Ca2+, K+, ERK, and STAT3 signalings and is regulated

A class of totally positive P-matrices whose inverses are M-matrices [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
In this work we introduce some technical conditions to prove that a P-matrix has an inverse M-matrix.

Engineered extracellular vesicles enriched with the miR‐214/199a cluster enhance the efficacy of chemotherapy in ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Loss of the miR‐214/199a cluster is associated with recurrence in ovarian cancer. Engineered small extracellular vesicles (m214‐sEVs) elevate miR‐214‐3p/miR‐199a‐5p in tumor cells, suppress β‐catenin, TLR4, and YKT6 signaling, reprogram tumor‐derived sEV cargo, reduce chemoresistance and migration, and enhance carboplatin efficacy and survival in ...

Antibiotic Resistance and Biofilm Production in Catalase-Positive Gram-Positive Cocci Isolated from Brazilian Pasteurized Milk

open access: yesJournal of Food Quality and Hazards Control, 2020
Background: Milk is a reservoir for several groups of microorganisms, which may pose health risks. The aim of this work was to assess the antibiotic resistance and biofilm production in catalase-positive Gram-positive cocci isolated from Brazilian ...

IMPDH inhibition enhances cytarabine efficacy in SAMHD1‐expressing leukaemia cells via guanine nucleotide depletion

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cytarabine is a key therapy for acute myeloid leukaemia (AML), but its efficacy is limited by the dNTPase SAMHD1, which hydrolyses its active metabolite. Screening nucleotide biosynthesis inhibitors revealed that IMPDH inhibitors selectively sensitise SAMHD1‐proficient AML cells to cytarabine.
