On the boundary of totally positive upper triangular matrices

open access: yes, 1995
Let B+ ⊂ GLn (R) denote the subgroup of upper triangular n × n matrices with positive entries on the main diagonal. A matrix M ∈ B+ is called totally positive if the determinants of all its minors not containing a row or column lying completely under the

Totally positive kernels, Pólya frequency functions, and their transforms [PDF]

open access: yes, 2023
The composition operators preserving total non-negativity and total positivity for various classes of kernels are classified, following three themes. Letting a function act by post composition on kernels with arbitrary domains, it is shown that such a ...

Interpreting the effects of DNA polymerase variants at the structural level

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Using MAVISp and molecular dynamics simulations, we analyzed over 60 000 missense variants in POLE and POLD1 from ClinVar, COSMIC, cBioPortal, and saturation mutagenesis. Identified mechanistic indicators, including stability, binding, and long‐range, enable structural interpretation, providing ACMG‐like evidence for possible reclassification of VUS ...

A probabilistic representation of totally positive matrices

open access: yes, 1986
C. Loewner (Math. Z. 63 (1955), 338–340) has shown that every non-singular totally positive matrix of finite order can be reached from the identity by forward solutions of the control equation dRdt = C(t)R, when C(t) varies in the class of Jacobi ...

Developmental programmes drive cellular plasticity, disease progression and therapy resistance in lung adenocarcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study shows that lung adenocarcinomas exploit developmental branching morphogenesis to acquire a therapy resistant basal‐like tumour cell state. This process was found to be regulated by combined TP53 loss‐of‐function and type‐I interferon signalling, identifying a novel axis for biomarker and therapeutic target discovery.

Efficient Algorithms for Positive Semi-Definite Total Least Squares Problems, Minimum Rank Problem and Correlation Matrix Computation

open access: yes, 2014
We have recently presented a method to solve an overdetermined linear system of equations with multiple right hand side vectors, where the unknown matrix is to be symmetric and positive definite. The coefficient and the right hand side matrices are respectively named data and target matrices.

Tropical totally positive cluster varieties

open access: yes, 2022
We study the relation between the integer tropical points of a cluster variety (satisfying the full Fock-Goncharov conjecture) and the totally positive part of the tropicalization of an ideal presenting the corresponding cluster algebra.

Stimulator of interferon genes agonist augmented antitumor immunity of osimertinib in Egfr‐mutated lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Combining osimertinib with the STING agonist ADU‐S100 activates innate and adaptive immunity to overcome the non‐inflamed microenvironment of Egfr‐mutant lung cancer. This combination increases NK and CD8+ T‐cell infiltration, associated with activation of the STING‐IRF3 pathway and local immunogenic cell death.

The linear interpolation problem for totally positive matrices

open access: yes, 2004
It is shown that for two real vectors x,y there is a totally positive matrix A such that Ax=y if and only if a certain refinement of a classical (sign) variation diminishing relationship between x and y is ...

USP29‐regulated noncanonical stabilization of the hypoxia‐inducible factor‐α in aggressive prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We identify USP29 as the only DUB mirroring CA9 expression, a marker of hypoxia and HIF pathway activation associated with PCA aggressiveness. USP29 stabilizes HIF‐1α and HIF‐2α via a noncanonical mechanism that is independent of PHD/pVHL activity yet relies on proteasomal regulation, establishing USP29 as a previously unrecognized regulator of hypoxic
