ABSTRACT The movement ecology of Trachurus japonicus in the adult stage remains poorly understood because observing their underwater behavior over long periods is challenging. This study aimed to examine vertical habitat use by T. japonicus using electronic tags. Ninety fish were tagged and released in November 2022 in Tokyo Bay, Japan.

Suspected microplastics in Atlantic horse mackerel fish (Trachurus trachurus) captured in Portugal
Microplastics have been found in fish, but most studies have focused on the digestive system without considering additional organs. Herein, the objective was to assess the presence of microplastics in internal organs (gills, guts, kidney, heart) of the Atlantic horse mackerel (Trachurus trachurus) captured of the coast of Portugal (Northeast Atlantic ...

ABSTRACT The common bottlenose dolphin (Tursiops truncatus) is a resident species along the Portuguese mainland coast, yet knowledge of its stranding patterns and feeding ecology is scarce. This study presents a comprehensive assessment of strandings (n = 264, from 1980 to 2019) and feeding ecology based on stomach content analysis (n = 43 from 1997 to

Environmental and Protection Effects of Shark‐Companion Associations Across Three Ocean Basins
Companion species frequently associate with large marine hosts, yet the ecological drivers of these relationships remain poorly understood. Using a global dataset of midwater BRUVS deployments, we modelled the presence and abundance of shark‐companion associations across seven shark species and three ocean basins.

PRESENCE OF PESTICIDE RESIDUES IN IMPORTED FROZEN FISH [PDF]
45 random samples of imported frozen fish were collected from Al-Gharbiah markets, Egypt. The collected samples were represented by Synodus Saurus (Saurus), Trachurus trachurus (Atlantic-Horse Mackerel) and Scomber scombrus (Mackerel) fish, (15 of each).

Abstract Fish‐aggregating devices (FADs) are man‐made objects designed to attract fish, with the aim of facilitating spatially heterogeneous aggregations of marine species. These objects influence the structure of pelagic fisheries, consequently affecting fish distributions and interactions. One of the most iconic epipelagic species targeted using FADs
