Curved Track Analysis of FSO Link for Ground-to-Train Communications [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
In this work, a free space optical (FSO) link for the ground-to-train (G2T-FSO) communications is proposed. Analytical analysis is carried out for the curved rail tracks.

Identifying and characterising a plant GH1 β‐glucosidase that exhibits hydrolytic activity on N‐linked glucopyranoside

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We report the first β‐glucosidase with demonstrated hydrolytic activity on an N‐linked glycopyranoside. The enzyme, native to maize, was biochemically characterised for this novel reaction, and structural modelling of the enzyme–substrate complex revealed several clues to the underlying reduced catalytic rate relative to its native O‐glycopyranoside ...

French Gratitude Train on railroad tracks

open access: yes, 1950
Photograph of the exterior of the French Gratitude Train parked on an unknown set of railroad tracks in Ohio. On the exterior are crests from the different regions of France. In 1948 the United States sent a large shipment of food, fuel and clothing to

Structural studies and functional engineering of NanX: an anhydro‐sialic acid transporter from Escherichia coli

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Biophysical characterisation shows that NanX, a membrane transport protein from the major facilitator superfamily (MFS), forms both monomers and dimers after purification. AlphaFold modelling and substrate docking provide information on residues likely involved in substrate recognition for NanX and another MFS member, NanT.

Study on the Influence of Collision Scene on the Energy Dissipation Process for Train Collision

open access: yesApplied Sciences
Orderly and controllable dissipation of impact kinetic energy is the key to ensuring train collision safety in different collision scenarios. Therefore, it is necessary to analyze the change rule of collision energy dissipation under different collision ...

Purification and preparation of Marchantia polymorpha Auxin Response Factor 2 for phase separation studies

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We describe detailed protocols for the purification and preparation of Marchantia polymorpha Auxin Response Factor 2 (MpARF2). This protein is fused to an MBP solubility tag and an mNG fluorescent tag and is purified from Escherichia coli. The presented procedures make it possible to study MpARF2 assemblies, which could arise from phase separation ...

Investigation of turbulence effect on the free space optical link for ground-to-train communications [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
There is a growing demand for high mobility and ultrafast internet/data services which drives the motivation for free space optical (FSO) communications for high speed trains.
