Rapid Computation of Optimal Trajectories
IBM Journal of Research and Development, 1967A generalized "indirect" method of solving two-point boundary value problems is discussed in application to the problem of computing optimal trajectories in a vacuum. Improved numerical techniques make the method extremely fast when a good initial estimate of the solution is available, but it also converges, more slowly, from initial estimates that are

Parallelization for space trajectory optimization
2014 IEEE Congress on Evolutionary Computation (CEC), 2014The impact of parallelization on the optimization process of space mission trajectories is investigated in this contribution. As space mission trajectory reference model, the well known Cassini1 benchmark, published by the European Space Agency (ESA), is considered and solved here with the MIDACO optimization software.

Trajectory optimization of robotic suturing
2015 IEEE International Conference on Technologies for Practical Robot Applications (TePRA), 2015This paper presents progress towards autonomous knot-tying in Robotic Assisted Minimally Invasive Surgery. While successful demonstrations of robotic knot-tying have been achieved, objective comparisons of competing approaches have been lacking. In this presentation we describe how to score a proposed procedure in terms of speed and volume.

Desensitization of the time-optimal trajectories
2016 21st International Conference on Methods and Models in Automation and Robotics (MMAR), 2016The time-optimal trajectories are very sensitive to disturbances. The use of optimal strategy in real-time inevitably results in a departure from the optimal path. A return to the trajectory is no longer possible. When the time-optimal is replaced to the fix horizon problem then the real system moves from the optimal to nearing trajectories.

Single-Train Trajectory Optimization
IEEE Transactions on Intelligent Transportation Systems, 2013An energy-efficient train trajectory describing the motion of a single train can be used as an input to a driver guidance system or to an automatic train control system. The solution for the best trajectory is subject to certain operational, geographic, and physical constraints.

Optimal Trajectories for Spacecraft Rendezvous
Journal of Optimization Theory and Applications, 2007This paper describes the formulation and numerical investigation of the thrust function required to minimize the time or fuel required for the terminal phase of the rendezvous of two spacecrafts. The particular rendezvous studied concerns a target spacecraft in a circular orbit and a chaser spacecraft with an initial separation distance and separation ...

Regularization in optimal trajectory problems.
AIAA Journal, 1968Fig. 3b Oscilloscope trace from the pressure gage in the surface of the 9° cone model. 20^5 Mach reflection theory. There is a kink in the reflected shock wave, downstream from the Mach stem. The kink suggests some further shock reflections in the flow behind the Mach stem. The pressure gage trace corresponding to the 41° indicident angle adds evidence

Force compliant trajectory optimization
2008 IEEE International Conference on Robotics and Biomimetics, 2009Force compliant trajectory optimization is a term used here to describe a method of following an optimized path while interacting with an environment having only partial a priori knowledge. This can be used when the start and goal poses are fixed and what knowledge is available allows an initial path to be given.

Manipulability optimization for trajectory generation
Proceedings 2006 IEEE International Conference on Robotics and Automation, 2006. ICRA 2006., 2006In this paper, we present an algorithm for manipulability based trajectory generation for any serial manipulator that has an inverse kinematic model that can obtain all solutions. Our strategy is a search based approach that analyzes candidate configurations at discrete points along the work-space trajectory.
