Optimal Trajectories

2018
Optimal trajectories are analysed, covering both constant- and variable-specific-impulse cases. Primer vector is defined and illustrated. The first-order necessary conditions for an optimal constant-specific-impulse (CSI) trajectory were first derived by Lawden using classical Calculus of Variations.

Searching for optimal trajectory with learning

IEEE Transactions on Systems, Man, and Cybernetics - Part A: Systems and Humans, 2001
An algorithm of searching for the optimal trajectory with the minimal cost W(x) of reaching the final state x/sub ft n/ from the initial state x is presented. A system of ODEs is suggested to determine an optimal trajectory x*(t) and an optimal control u*(t).

Optimization of Trajectories

2017
The power of Mathematica is revealed once more by this chapter. It is focused on certain problems of calculus of variations and optimal control. We show how one can transform a theoretical problem of calculus of variations or optimal control into a numeric one with codes and graphs. In this way, the problem and its results are more intuitive.

Parallel optimization of interplanetary trajectories

1996
This paper describes the software developed at CNES within the context of the VESTA Franco-Soviet program, for the optimization of interplanetary trajectories. The sequentiel software, intended for the determination of multiple flyby trajectories and their optimization, was developed previously in collaboration with CNES and LAO of Paul Sabatier ...

STRONG OPTIMALITY OF SINGULAR TRAJECTORIES

2008
The paper proves second order sufficient conditions for the strong optimality of singular extremals of the first kind. The conditions are given both in Hamiltonian formulation and by means of the coercivity of a suitable coordinate--free second variation.
