A novel method for tracking structural changes in gels using widely accessible microcomputed tomography is presented and validated for various hydro‐, alco‐, and aerogels. The core idea of the method is to track positions of micrometer‐sized tracer particles entrapped in the gel and relate them to the density of the gel network.

Inter-Blockchain Communication Message Relay Time Measurement and Analysis in Cosmos
This research presents a novel method to assess inter-chain message relay time in the Cosmos blockchain network, which employs the Inter-Blockchain Communication (IBC) protocol for blockchain interoperability. While inter-chain transactions in Cosmos lag

We quantified and cultured circulating tumor cells (CTCs) of 62 patients with various cancer types and generated CTC‐derived tumoroid models from two salivary gland cancer patients. Cellular liquid biopsy‐derived information enabled molecular genetic assessment of systemic disease heterogeneity and functional testing for therapy selection in both ...

An Algebraic-Topological Approach to Processing Cross-Blockchain Transactions [PDF]
The state-of-the-art techniques for processing cross-blockchain transactions take a simple centralized approach: when the assets on blockchain $X$, say $X$-coins, are exchanged with the assets on blockchain $Y$---the $Y$-coins, those $X$-coins need to be exchanged to a "middle" medium (such as Bitcoin) that is then exchanged to $Y$-coins.

Shirakami: A Hybrid Concurrency Control Protocol for Tsurugi Relational Database System [PDF]
Modern real-world transactional workloads such as bills of materials or telecommunication billing need to process both short transactions and long transactions. Recent concurrency control protocols do not cope with such workloads since they assume only classical workloads (i.e., YCSB and TPC-C) that have relatively short transactions.

Large multidimensional digital images of cancer tissue are becoming prolific, but many challenges exist to automatically extract relevant information from them using computational tools. We describe publicly available resources that have been developed jointly by expert and non‐expert computational biologists working together during a virtual hackathon

Blockchain privacy: Fundamental aspects and challenges for the future Internet data sharing
Privacy concerns the majority of individuals, governments, and organizations that share data over dissimilar networks of nodes. Every kind of participant requires awareness of the data journey that unfolds inside a blockchain network with its own ...

In molecular cancer diagnostics, comprehensive genomic profiling (CGP) is going to replace the small NGS panels since it provides all clinically relevant somatic variants as well as genomic biomarkers with clinical value. Here, we compared two CGP assays and demonstrate that the choice for diagnostic implementation will depend on the specific ...
