Hepatotoxicity after transarterial chemoembolization and transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunt: do two rights make a wrong? [PDF]
PurposeTo compare the rates of hepatotoxicity after transarterial chemoembolization for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) in patients with and without a transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunt (TIPS) who were stratified into comparable risk groups ...

ABSTRACT Aim Radiofrequency ablation (RFA) is curative therapy for early‐stage hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), but a rare subset of patients develop aggressive intrasegmental recurrence shortly after complete ablation. We characterized the incidence, risk factors, and absolute risk.

ABSTRACT Background and Aim The optimal treatment strategy for patients with intermediate‐stage hepatocellular carcinoma beyond the up‐to‐seven criteria (Barcelona Clinic Liver Cancer B2) remains uncertain. Although transarterial chemoembolization has long been the standard of care, its efficacy is limited in this subgroup, and systemic therapies have ...

Transarterial Chemoembolization in a Woodchuck Model of Hepatocellular Carcinoma
To assess the feasibility of transarterial chemoembolization with drug-eluting embolic (DEE) microspheres in a woodchuck model of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC).Nine woodchucks were studied: 4 normal animals and 5 animals infected with woodchuck hepatitis virus in which HCC had developed. Three animals with HCC underwent multidetector CT.

ABSTRACT Alcohol‐related hepatocellular carcinoma is an increasingly prevalent consequence of alcohol use and the often‐silent progression of alcohol‐related liver disease. A substantial proportion of patients with alcohol‐related hepatocellular carcinoma are diagnosed at an advanced stage, frequently because underlying liver disease has not been ...

Drug-eluting bead transarterial chemoembolization for hepatocellular carcinoma: does size really matter? [PDF]
PURPOSEWe aimed to compare the safety and effectiveness of 100–300 μm versus 300–500 μm drug-eluting bead transarterial chemoembolization (DEB-TACE) and to investigate the impact of tumor and feeding artery size on treatment outcome of different particle

ABSTRACT Chronic liver disease (CLD)‐related thrombocytopenia can limit the feasibility of invasive procedures. Recombinant human thrombopoietin (rhTPO) has demonstrated a favorable safety profile without hepatotoxicity. We evaluated the efficacy and safety of rhTPO in patients with CLD‐related thrombocytopenia who were undergoing elective invasive ...
