Biodegradable derivatives of tranexamic acid as transdermal permeation enhancers

Journal of Controlled Release, 2005
The purpose of this work was to develop a novel approach to transdermal permeation enhancer design, based on utilizing some favorable properties of their metabolites. As an example of this concept, a series of carbamic acid salts of tranexamic acid (TXA) esters was synthesized, because TXA was previously shown to improve skin barrier homeostasis ...

[Influence of permeation enhancers on transdermal permeation of anemonin].

Zhongguo Zhong yao za zhi = Zhongguo zhongyao zazhi = China journal of Chinese materia medica, 2008
To investigate the effect of different permeation enhancer on transdermal permeation of anemonin through human skin. The permeation experiments were performed using human skin on modified Franz diffusion cells in vitro. The concentrations of anemonin in receptor compartment at specified time points were determined by HPLC.

Transdermal permeation enhancement of N-trimethyl chitosan for testosterone

International Journal of Pharmaceutics, 2008
The aim of this study was to evaluate the transdermal permeation enhancement of N-trimethyl chitosan (TMC) with different degrees of quaternization (DQ). TMCs with DQ of 40 and 60% (TMC40 and TMC60) were synthesized and characterized by (1)H NMR. Testosterone (TS) used as an effective drug, four different gels were prepared without enhancer, with 5 ...

Transdermal permeation of apomorphine through hairless mouse skin from microemulsions

International Journal of Pharmaceutics, 2001
The in vitro transdermal absorption of apomorphine from microemulsions was studied using the skin of the hairless mouse as a membrane. Two microemulsions (no. 1 and 2) were prepared and thickened both containing 3.9% of apomorphine hydrochloride. The lipophilicity of the drug was increased by forming apomorphine-octanoic acid ion-pairs.

Iontophoresis-Mediated Transdermal Permeation of Peptide Dendrimers across Human Epidermis

Skin Pharmacology and Physiology, 2013
Purpose of the Study: The overall aim of the present work was to elucidate the effects of iontophoresis on assisting permeation/deposition of peptide dendrimers across/within human skin. Procedures: A series of peptide dendrimers containing arginine and histidine as terminal ...

Transdermal permeation-enhancing activities of some inorganic anions

Archives of Pharmacal Research, 1995
Effects of sodium salts of various monovalent inorganic anions on transdermal permeation of salicylic acid were investigated. In in-vitro experiment using a Franz-type diffusion cell and excised mouse skin, the permeation-enhancing activities of the sodium salts of inorganic anions were roughly proportional to lyotropic Hofmeister swelling abilities of

Transdermal Permeation Enhancing Potentials of Natural Products

Drug Delivery Letters
: Skin is a formidable natural barrier that represents the most important obstacle in clinical practices pertaining to the cutaneous administration of exogenous molecules/drugs. As transdermal therapy systems offer a more dependable way of distributing drugs by way of permeation enhancers, it is vital to use ...

Solubility and in vitro transdermal permeation of nifedipine

International Journal of Pharmaceutics, 1997
Abstract The solubilities of a hydrophobic drug, nifedipine, in a diverse panel of solvent and cosolvent systems were determined experimentally at room temperature. The observed solubilities were examined for deviations from regular solution solubilities as calculated by the Hildebrand and Scott Equation.

An Electrochemical Transdermal Patch for Permeation Enhancement

2017
A novel electrochemical patch is described that works by the hydrolysis of water in a hydrogel between two suitable electrodes that produces a strongly enhanced drug flux through the skin. This non-iontophoretic mechanism requires only a short voltage application (60 s) yet produces enhanced skin permeation over up to 5 h.

Applications of ultrasonic skin permeation in transdermal drug delivery

Expert Opinion on Drug Delivery, 2008
Transdermal ultrasound-mediated drug delivery has been studied as a method for needle-less, non-invasive drug administration. Potential obstacles include the stratum corneum, which is not sufficiently passively permeable to allow effective transfer of many medications into the bloodstream without active methods.
