Ferrocyanide staining of transferrin and ferritin-conjugated antibody to transferrin. [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Histochemistry & Cytochemistry, 1979
To evaluate the ultrastructural distribution of transferrin on the surface of L1210 ascites tumor cells, we used ferrocyanide to stain ferric iron (Prussian blue reaction) in transferrin, as well as in ferritin conjugated to antibody that was immunologically attached to the transferrin.

Biomaterial Strategies for Targeted Intracellular Delivery to Phagocytes

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Phagocytes are essential to a functional immune system, and their behavior defines disease outcomes. Engineered particles offer a strategic opportunity to target phagocytes, harnessing inflammatory modulation in disease. By tuning features like size, shape, and surface, these systems can modulate immune responses and improve targeted treatment for a ...

Isolation of complexes formed between insulin-like growth factor-binding protein-3 and transferrin from the human serum [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of the Serbian Chemical Society, 2012
Insulin-like growth factors (IGFs) play an important role in the regulation of cell growth, differentiation and metabolism. The amount of free, biologically active IGFs is regulated by the IGF-binding proteins (IGFBPs).

Sleep disturbance and serum ferritin levels associate with high impulsivity and impulse control disorders in male Parkinson\u27s Disease patients [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Impulse control disorders (ICDs) occur in a subset of Parkinson’s disease (PD) patients on dopaminergic medications however there are currently no reliable markers to identify patients at risk.

Transferrin Reduces the Production of Soluble Transferrin Receptor

open access: yesExperimental Biology and Medicine, 1995
The effect of homologous diferric transferrin from which contaminating transferrin receptor has been removed by monoclonal antibody affinity chromatography on soluble transferrin receptor concentrations was studied in K562 cells and HL60 cells in culture.

Soft Nanocarriers as Antimicrobial Co‐Delivery Systems to Combat Resistant Infections

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Soft nanocarrier‐based co‐delivery systems present a versatile and promising platform for combating antimicrobial resistance (AMR) by enabling spatiotemporally controlled, pathogen‐specific drug release. Their tunable physicochemical properties allow for the co‐encapsulation of synergistic antimicrobial agents, optimization of drug ratios, and surface ...

Comparative intrafollicular and plasma iron, ferritin, and transferrin concentrations in cycling mares [PDF]

open access: yesVeterinary World
Background and Aim: In females of various species and experimental animals, iron (Fe) status in follicular fluid (FF) is associated with local physiological reproductive events related to follicle development, steroidogenesis, and oocyte maturation ...

Mysteries of the Transferrin-Transferrin Receptor 1 Interaction Uncovered [PDF]

open access: yesCell, 2004
How does the iron (Fe) binding protein, transferrin (Tf), bind to the transferrin receptor 1 (TfR1) to donate Fe to cells? In this issue of Cell, Cheng et al., describe the molecular structure of the human TfR1-Tf complex, This atomic model shows that Tf binds laterally to the TfR1 dimer and extends into the gap between the bottom of the receptor ...

Rapid Deep Vat Printing Using Photoclickable Collagen‐Based Bioresins

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Collagen‐based resin formulations based on thiol‐ene photoclick chemistry are demonstrated. These resins enable easy handleability under neutral conditions and further allow facile fabrication of multicellular tissue constructs via tomographic or FLight printing.
