Transgenic Mouse Model of Stunned Myocardium

Science, 2000
Stunned myocardium is a syndrome of reversible contractile failure that frequently complicates coronary artery disease. Cardiac excitation is uncoupled from contraction at the level of the myofilaments. Selective proteolysis of the thin filament protein troponin I has been correlated with stunned myocardium.

The Rip1Tag2 Transgenic Mouse Model

2016
The Rip1Tag2 transgenic mouse model of β-cell carcinogenesis has been instrumental in studying various aspects of tumor angiogenesis and in investigating the response to anti-angiogenic therapeutics. Thereby, the in-depth assessment of blood and lymphatic vessel phenotypes and functionality represents key experimental analyses.

Transgenic mouse models of multiple sclerosis

Cellular and Molecular Life Sciences, 2010
Multiple sclerosis (MS) is an inflammatory demyelinating disease affecting the central nervous system (CNS) and a frequent cause of neurological disability in young adults. Multifocal inflammatory lesions in the CNS white matter, demyelination, oligodendrocyte loss, axonal damage, as well as astrogliosis represent the histological hallmarks of the ...

Transgenic Myth to Transgenic Mouse

1993
Abstract The last few years I’ve been watching with ever more interest the research on genetic engineering that produces transgenic life-forms. Transgenic forms are the fascinating creations that result from mixing genetic material between different species.

Transgenic Mouse Models of Prion Diseases

The Biomedical & Life Sciences Collection, 2008
Prions represent a new biological paradigm of protein-mediated information transfer. In mammals, prions are the cause of fatal, transmissible neurodegenerative diseases, often referred to as transmissible spongiform encephalopathies. Many unresolved issues remain, including the exact molecular nature of the prion, the detailed mechanism of prion ...

Transgenic mouse models of breast cancer

Breast Cancer Research and Treatment, 1996
Although valuable initial information can be gathered about transformation from in vitro studies, human cancer occurs in the context of a complex interaction with its environment and must ultimately be studied in living animals. Transgenic animal models have been used to study breast transformation for a number of years and have yielded valuable ...

Cloning a Transgene for Transgenic RNAi in Mouse Oocytes

Cold Spring Harbor Protocols, 2009
INTRODUCTIONRNA interference (RNAi) is a suitable method for sequence-specific post-transcriptional gene silencing for many model systems. The protocol presented here describes the cloning of a plasmid construct for use in transgenic RNAi experiments in mouse oocytes. The protocol is intended for production of a transgene by cloning an inverted repeat (

Nestin-Based Reporter Transgenic Mouse Lines

2016
Nestin expression marks stem and progenitor cells of the neural lineage. Transgenic mouse lines, originally generated to identify neural stem cells, can also help to identify, track, and isolate stem and progenitor cells in a range of tissues of the ectodermal, endodermal, and mesodermal origin.

Characterization of Frzb‐Cre transgenic mouse

genesis, 2004
AbstractThe Wnt family of glycoproteins is involved in numerous developmental and disease processes in higher eukaryotes, exerting their action by binding to cell‐surface receptors. In the extracellular space, Wnts are negatively regulated by secreted antagonists that either bind to the receptors directly (Dkk1) or to Wnt molecules themselves (Sfrp ...

Genomic imprinting: Lessons from mouse transgenes

Mutation Research - Fundamental and Molecular Mechanisms of Mutagenesis, 1994
Genomic imprinting is a non-Mendelian form of inheritance that results in an expression difference between the two parental alleles of an autosomal locus. The study of mouse transgenes has provided us with descriptions of a variety of imprinting or parent-of-origin effects, thereby anticipating similar inheritance phenomena in non-transgenic mice. Many
