Characterizing ultrashort pulses with photon energies above 1.12 eV based on transient absorption in silicon thin films

open access: yesJPhys Photonics
Frequency-resolved optical switching (FROSt) is a phase-matching-free characterization technique for ultrashort pulses based on transient absorption in semiconductors.

Transient Absorption in the Sensitized Photoisomerization of Stilbene [PDF]

open access: yesBulletin of the Chemical Society of Japan, 1978
Abstract The sensitized photoisomerization of stilbene was studied with nanosecond time-resolved absorption spectroscopy at room temperature. In non-viscous solvents (heptane, benzene, and ethanol), the transient spectrum does not depend upon a starting material being either cis- or trans-stilbene.

Loss of proton‐sensing TDAG8 increases tumor progression in mouse models of colon cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Loss of the pH‐sensing receptor TDAG8 accelerates colorectal cancer progression in mice. Animals lacking TDAG8 expression had increased tumor growth, DNA damage, and recruitment of tumor‐associated immune cells, including macrophages, neutrophils, and monocytes.

Dynamic Model for Small-Scale Ammonia-Water Absorption Chiller

open access: yes, 2012
Optimization of the performance of absorption systems during transient operations such as start-up and shut-down to minimize lifetime costs is particularly important for small-capacity chillers and heat pumps.

ZW4864‐mediated inhibition of the β‐catenin/BCL9/BCL9L complex reveals therapeutic potential in bladder cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
BCL9 and BCL9L drive bladder cancer progression by enhancing β‐catenin signaling, promoting proliferation, migration, invasion, and organoid growth. Genetic depletion of BCL9(L) suppresses malignant phenotypes, while pharmacological disruption of the β‐catenin/BCL9(L) complex with ZW4864 inhibits canonical Wnt signaling and tumor‐associated cellular ...

Polarization‐resolved femtosecond Vis/IR spectroscopy tailored for resolving weak signals in biological samples using minimal sample volume

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Unique biological samples, such as site‐specific mutant proteins, are available only in limited quantities. Here, we present a polarization‐resolved transient infrared spectroscopy setup with referencing to improve signal‐to‐noise tailored towards tracing small signals. We provide an overview of characterizing the excitation conditions for polarization‐

A light‐triggered Time‐Resolved X‐ray Solution Scattering (TR‐XSS) workflow with application to protein conformational dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Time‐resolved X‐ray solution scattering captures how proteins change shape in real time under near‐native conditions. This article presents a practical workflow for light‐triggered TR‐XSS experiments, from data collection to structural refinement. Using a calcium‐transporting membrane protein as an example, the approach can be broadly applied to study ...

Investigating Dopant Effects in ZnO as an Electron Transport Layer for Enhanced Efficiency in Organic Photovoltaics

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces
The power conversion efficiencies of organic solar cells greatly depend on the device architecture and choice of charge transporting materials. Improved power conversion efficiency (PCE) for inverted organic solar cells is observed when using Sn‐doped ...

Transient Vibrational Echo versus Transient Absorption Spectroscopy: A Direct Experimental and Theoretical Comparison

open access: yes, 2010
Transient dispersed vibrational echo (DVE) spectroscopy is a practical alternative to transient-absorption spectroscopy because it affords increased sensitivity as well as greater signal-to-noise ratio without the need to detect a reference spectrum ...
