PEARLS: 21 Transients Found in the Three-epoch NIRCam Observations in the Continuous Viewing Zone of the James Webb Space Telescope

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
We present 21 transients from our three-epoch, four-band NIRCam observations covering 14.16 arcmin ^2 in the Spitzer IRAC Dark Field (IDF), taken by the JWST Prime Extragalactic Areas for Reionization and Lensing Science program with a time cadence of ∼6

Combined 5‐aminolevulinic acid and ferric ammonium citrate treatment promotes hair follicle growth by activating dermal papilla cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
5‐Aminolevulinic acid combined with ferric ammonium citrate (5‐ALA/FAC) stimulates dermal papilla cell activity and promotes hair follicle growth. The treatment enhances ERK and AKT signaling, increases hair‐inductive gene expression, and restores dermal papilla function suppressed by dihydrotestosterone and oxidative stress, resulting in enhanced hair

The Impact of Accretion on FRB Radiation Mechanisms in Binary Systems: Constraints and Implications

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
Fast radio bursts (FRBs) are intense, millisecond-duration radio transients that have recently been proposed to arise from coherent radiation mechanisms within the magnetosphere of neutron stars.

Large‐scale bidirectional arrayed genetic screens identify OXR1 and EMC4 as modifiers of αSynuclein aggregation

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Activation of the mitochondrial protein OXR1 increases pSyn129 αSynuclein aggregation by lowering ATP levels and altering mitochondrial membrane potential, particularly in response to MSA‐derived fibrils. In contrast, ablation of the ER protein EMC4 enhances autophagic flux and lysosomal clearance, broadly reducing α‐synuclein aggregates.

Constraints on Evolutions of Fundamental Constants from Clustering of Fast Radio Burst Dispersion Measure

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
Constrained measurements of fundamental physical constants using astronomical observational data represent a powerful method for investigating potential new physics. In particular, the dispersion measure (DM) of fast radio bursts (FRBs), which probes the

The skills required for transition to university and study in biological sciences: A student perspective

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Bioscience students were asked for their opinions on the value and teaching of skills. 204 responded that teamwork, time management and study skills are necessary to reach University, that scientific writing, research, laboratory and presentation skills are taught effectively during their studies, while other skills are gained inherently through study ...

Can Repeating and Nonrepeating Fast Radio Bursts Be Drawn from the Same Population?

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
Do all fast radio burst (FRB) sources repeat? We present evidence that FRB sources follow a Zipf-like distribution, in which the number density of sources is approximately inversely proportional to their burst rate above a fixed energy threshold—even ...

Mass spectrometry based identification of AMP‐O‐Tris generated by Thermococcus onnurineus Cas10

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Isolated Thermococcus onnurineus Cas10 generates the noncanonical ATP‐derived product AMP‐O‐Tris while in Tris‐containing buffer as identified via mass spectrometry, revealing relaxed nucleophile selectivity under isolated conditions. These findings suggest that multiprotein Csm complex assembly restricts Cas10 reactivity toward canonical cyclic ...

Galactic transient sources with MAXI

open access: yesGalactic transient sources with MAXI
Astrophysics with All-Sky X-Ray observations: 3rd International MAXI Workshop (RIKEN, 10-12 June 2008) Thanks to its superior sensitivity, energy resolution and wide energy coverage, MAXI is expected to open a new window in the study of Galactic X-ray transients.
