A Monocentric City With Discrete Transit Stations [PDF]

open access: yes
We extend the monocentric model by considering a discrete number of accessible mass transit stations. Households combine two modes for their daily home-to-work trip: a first mode for terminal access to stations and a second (long haul) mode which ...

Public transit cost efficiency studies: The impact of non-contracting regulations [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
This paper studies the effects of non-contracting regulations on the efficiency of U.S. public transit systems. First, it estimates a system of cost and input demand equations and second, a frontier equation with technical inefficiency a function of ...

Application of a new rapid transit network design model to bus rapid transit network design: case study Isfahan metropolitan area

open access: yesTransport, 2015
The problem of Rapid Transit Network Design (RTND) is studied in this paper. Due to the noticeable contribution of rapid transit lines in public transportation network of large urban areas, this problem is interesting to the transportation specialists ...

An isoform of 14‐3‐3 protein regulates transbilayer lipid movement at the plasma membrane

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Loss of 14‐3‐3ζ in CHO cells confers resistance to exogenous phosphatidylserine (PS) and impairs endocytosis‐independent inward flip‐flop of fluorescent PS at the plasma membrane. RNAi‐mediated knockdown reproduces this defect, while no additive effect is seen in ATP11C‐deficient cells.

Epigenetic blind spots – the role of DNA methylation dynamics in stem cell‐based models of embryogenesis

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Embryo‐like structures (stembryos) are an innovative tool, but they are hindered by experimental variability and limited developmental potential. DNA methylation is crucial for mammalian development, but its status in stembryo models is poorly characterized.

Residual tail twisting in ascidian larvae is stabilized by asymmetric myofibrils that resist bilateral symmetry restoration

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ascidian Ciona larvae initially show strong clockwise tail twisting, which is largely corrected during development. However, a small residual twist remains. This study shows that organized helical myofibrils in tail muscles mechanically stabilize this residual asymmetry, preventing complete restoration of bilateral symmetry and revealing how embryos ...

Respiratory muscle training outcomes on swallowing biomechanics and respiratory function measures in normal subjects

open access: yesRevista CEFAC
Purpose: to verify the outcomes of respiratory muscle training (RMT) with flow-oriented incentive spirometer on respiratory function measurements and their relationship with the swallowing biomechanics variables.

The human gut microbiome across the life course

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Despite significant individual variation and continuous change throughout life, the human gut microbiome follows some life stage‐specific trends. This article provides a brief overview of how gut microbiome composition shifts across different phases of life. Created in BioRender. Özkurt, E. (2026) https://BioRender.com/8q4nrnc.

TOTAL FACTOR PRODUCTIVITY IN TRANSIT SYSTEMS: 1983-1988 [PDF]

open access: yes, 1992
Performance in single mode bus transit systems is analyzed in this paper. The paper points to two potential problems in using partial productivity and other measures in assessing the performance levels of transit systems.
