Rational substrate and enzyme engineering of transketolase for aromatics [PDF]
The uses of 3-formylbenzoic acid and 4-formylbenzoic acid as molecular probes along with previous and new transketolase mutants revealed the factors governing the rate of reaction between transketolase and aromatic aldehydes.

Measurements of the activity of transketolase in human erythrocyte lysates by an assay coupled to NADH oxidation indicate that interactions of assay substrates with hemoglobin can give rise to overestimations of transketolase activity.

Mechanism-Based Studies of the Active Site-Directed Inhibition and Activation of Enzyme Transketolase [PDF]
Derivatives of phenyl-keto butenoic acids have been reported to be inhibitors of pyruvate decarboxylase, (PDC). The inhibition of transketolase, a thiamine requiring enzyme such as PDF, by meta nitrophenyl derivative of 2-oxo-3-butenoic acid (MNPB) is ...

The production and use of transketolase as a catalyst for carbon-carbon bond formation [PDF]
This thesis describes the advances made towards the development of a complete pilot scale process for an enzyme catalysed carbon-carbon bond forming reaction.

PREPARATION AND PROPERTIES OF TRANSKETOLASE FROM PORK LIVER
Transketolase of pork liver has been purified 90-fold and separated from ribulose 5-phosphate 3-epimerase. The transketolase is most stable between pH 7.5 and 8.5 and below 40 °C. The pH range for optimum activity is between 7.6 and 8.1.

Biosynthesis of the benzylpyrrolidine precursor in anisomycin by a unique ThDP-dependent enzyme
Anisomycin (compound 1), a multifunctional pyrrolidine antibiotic, primarily inhibits protein biosynthesis by binding to the ribosome. Upon binding to the ribosome, the para-phenol moiety of anisomycin inserts completely into the hydrophobic crevice of ...
