A systematic review of healthcare experiences of women and men living with coronary heart disease

open access: yesnpj Women's Health
Coronary heart disease (CHD) is the leading cause of morbidity and mortality for people worldwide, yet differences in the likelihood of receiving optimal care occur depend on gender. This study therefore aimed to explore the healthcare experiences of men

A context‐dependent modulatory role for eIF6 in acquired resistance to vemurafenib in melanoma

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Acquired resistance to vemurafenib upregulates the translation factor eIF6 in melanoma cells. Silencing eIF6 in resistant cells reduces proliferation and partially restores drug sensitivity, whereas its overexpression increases sensitivity across melanoma lines regardless of BRAF status, via modulation of mTOR, S6K, and MAPK signaling.

Smaller is better: nanobodies meet NMR

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Nanobodies are single‐domain antigen‐binding fragments derived from camelid heavy chain antibodies. Their small size, high stability, and exceptional specificity make nanobodies uniquely useful probes for NMR studies of protein dynamics, transient conformational states, and protein–protein interactions.

Neural machine translation of literary texts from English to Slovene

open access: yes, 2019
Neural Machine Translation has shown promising performance in literary texts. Since literary machine translation has not yet been researched for the English-toSlovene translation direction, this paper aims to fulfill this gap by presenting a comparison ...

Transcutaneous auricular vagus nerve stimulation paired with task-specific training for improving walking and balance in chronic stroke: a double-blind, randomised controlled feasibility trial

open access: yesJournal of NeuroEngineering and Rehabilitation
Background Transcutaneous auricular vagus nerve stimulation (taVNS) paired with task-specific training has shown promise for improving upper-limb motor recovery after stroke but its effects on gait and balance remain unclear.

Monkey see, monkey do? Exploring parent-athlete behaviours from youth athletes' perspective

open access: yesFrontiers in Sports and Active Living
Parents are an important social agent that can shape their child's behaviour in sport. However, the association between a youth athlete's perception of their parent's sideline sport behaviour and their own sporting behaviours is currently unclear ...

Invisible but not inaccessible—Revealing transient oligomers formed by intrinsically disordered proteins with solution NMR and complementary methods

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Transient oligomers formed by intrinsically disordered proteins may be ‘invisible’ to direct detection yet remain accessible to solution NMR through equilibrium‐exchange measurements and pressure‐jump experiments. Complementary methods report on mass, stoichiometry, selected distance distributions, morphology, and internal packing.

Operetta in Turkey: A case study of Gün’s translation of Strauss’s Die Fledermaus

open access: yes, 2020
The genre operetta has long found itself a place in the musical polysystem of Turkey and become one of the borrowed forms of art symbolizing modernity through Turkey’s Westernization process.

Membrane composition and thermodynamic identity as boundaries of life for synthetic cell research

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
What makes a cell a cell? The boundary of a living cell is not just a wall. Read as a Markov blanket, the membrane separates internal from external states, generating identity and non‐equilibrium order. Can this identity be rebuilt from scratch in a synthetic cell?
