MODERN TRANSLATION STRATEGIES

open access: yes, 2022
Annotation: This article defines the content of the concept of "translation strategy", briefly describes its main components and identifies the main principles that a translator should be guided by when choosing a translation strategy.

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

Conceptos y consideraciones generales sobre la traducción

open access: yesمجلة الآداب, 2023
Translation is important in every society in the world, because it destroys language barriers between countries. Through translation we can communicate with others despite the difference in languages.

MATREX: DCU machine translation system for IWSLT 2006 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
In this paper, we give a description of the machine translation system developed at DCU that was used for our first participation in the evaluation campaign of the International Workshop on Spoken Language Translation (2006).

Human strategies in translation and interpreting : what MT can learn from translators [PDF]

open access: yes, 1994
Translation - which we think of as a broader concept above written translation as well as interpreting - is basically a complex decision process. The decisions are based on available information.

Feminist Translation: Translator's Subjectivity, Strategies and Influences

open access: yesJournal of Higher Education Research, 2021
Feminist translation theory is the academic fruit of the further development of feminist movement and also the portrayal of women's reflection fueled by feminism. Based on Skopos theory, the paper explores how translator's subjectivity acts in translation activities from the feminist perspective, aiming to reveal the relationship between feminist ...

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

An Empirical Study of Mini-Batch Creation Strategies for Neural Machine Translation

open access: yes, 2017
Training of neural machine translation (NMT) models usually uses mini-batches for efficiency purposes. During the mini-batched training process, it is necessary to pad shorter sentences in a mini-batch to be equal in length to the longest sentence ...
