Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

Translation Process Strategies: Psycholinguistic Aspects

open access: yesПсихолінгвістика, 2020
The aim of the paper deals with the preliminary verification of the hypothesis concerning the impact of the source text structure on the choice of translation strategy (form-oriented or sense-oriented) in the process of rendering a text in a native ...

Conceptos y consideraciones generales sobre la traducción

open access: yesمجلة الآداب, 2023
Translation is important in every society in the world, because it destroys language barriers between countries. Through translation we can communicate with others despite the difference in languages.

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

The ubiquitin ligase RNF115 is required for the clearance of damaged lysosomes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Upon lysosomal rupture, an E3 ubiquitin ligase RNF115 translocates from the cytosol to the damaged lysosomal membrane. Moreover, RNF115 depletion impairs the clearance of damaged lysosomes, identifying it as a key regulator of lysosomal quality control.

Joseph L. Malone’s trajections, or on the right to use Ockham’s razor

open access: yesFacta Simonidis, 2020
The article focuses on the typology of translation procedures suggested by Joseph L. Malone that comes from the 1980s. The ambition of Joseph L. Malone was to create a practical typology, which would constitute a type of a guideline for translators ...

Epigenetic blind spots – the role of DNA methylation dynamics in stem cell‐based models of embryogenesis

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Embryo‐like structures (stembryos) are an innovative tool, but they are hindered by experimental variability and limited developmental potential. DNA methylation is crucial for mammalian development, but its status in stembryo models is poorly characterized.

The epithet in English‑language media discourse: Functional, semantic, and translation aspects

open access: yesRussian Social and Humanitarian Studies
Background. The relevance of this research is driven by the growing influence of media in creating public consciousness, where linguistic devices such as epithets are not only literary devices but also tools in shaping the masses.

Translation Principles vs. Translator Strategies [PDF]

open access: yesMeta, 2002
Having subscribed to a definite viewpoint on the nature of language and language use in interpersonal verbal transactions, one can set out to characterize the principles governing the translation process. But due to the highly volatile nature of the "context of situation" as a determining factor in the materialization of the language ...
