Purification of Aminoacyltransferase II (Translocation Factor) from Rat Liver

open access: yesJournal of Biological Chemistry, 1969
Abstract Aminoacyltransferase II is one of the two soluble protein factors required for polypeptide biosynthesis from aminoacyl transfer RNA with rat liver preparations. This transfer factor and guanosine triphosphate are required for the translocation of messenger RNA and peptidyl transfer RNA from the aminoacyl to the peptidyl site on ribosomes.

Mutations in the PKM2 exon-10 region are associated with reduced allostery and increased nuclear translocation. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
PKM2 is a key metabolic enzyme central to glucose metabolism and energy expenditure. Multiple stimuli regulate PKM2's activity through allosteric modulation and post-translational modifications.

The newfound relationship between extrachromosomal DNAs and excised signal circles

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Extrachromosomal DNAs (ecDNAs) contribute to the progression of many human cancers. In addition, circular DNA by‐products of V(D)J recombination, excised signal circles (ESCs), have roles in cancer progression but have largely been overlooked. In this Review, we explore the roles of ecDNAs and ESCs in cancer development, and highlight why these ...

Immunomodulatory effects of 17-O-acetylacuminolide in RAW264.7 cells and HUVECs : involvement of MAPK and NF-κB pathways [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
The terpenoid 17-O-acetylacuminolide (AA) was shown to inhibit the production of several inflammatory mediators. However, the mechanisms by which this compound elicited its anti-inflammatory activity remain to be elucidated.

In situ molecular organization and heterogeneity of the Legionella Dot/Icm T4SS

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We present a nearly complete in situ model of the Legionella Dot/Icm type IV secretion system, revealing its central secretion channel and identifying new components. Using cryo‐electron tomography with AI‐based modeling, our work highlights the structure, variability, and mechanism of this complex nanomachine, advancing understanding of bacterial ...

Interactions of Fe, Mn, Zn, and Cd in Soil–Rice Systems: Implications for Reducing Cd Accumulation in Rice

open access: yesToxics
Cadmium (Cd) contamination in rice (Oryza sativa L.) poses serious health risks for human, necessitating effective mitigation strategies. This study investigated the effects of Cd stress on iron (Fe), manganese (Mn), zinc (Zn), and Cd accumulation and ...

Signal-dependent dynamics of transcription factor translocation controls gene expression [PDF]

open access: yesNature Structural & Molecular Biology, 2011
Information about environmental stimuli is often transmitted using common signaling molecules, but the mechanisms that ensure signaling specificity are not entirely known. Here we show that the identities and intensities of different stresses are transmitted by modulation of the amplitude, duration or frequency of nuclear translocation of the ...

Persistent systemic microbial translocation, inflammation, and intestinal damage during Clostridioides difficile infection [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
Background. Clostridioides difficile infection (CDI) might be complicated by the development of nosocomial bloodstream infection (n-BSI). Based on the hypothesis that alteration of the normal gut integrity is present during CDI, we evaluated markers of ...

PICALM::MLLT10 translocated leukemia

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This comprehensive review of PICALM::MLLT10 translocated acute leukemia provides an in‐depth review of the structure and function of CALM, AF10, and the fusion oncoprotein (1). The multifaceted molecular mechanisms of oncogenesis, including nucleocytoplasmic shuttling (2), epigenetic modifications (3), and disruption of endocytosis (4), are then ...
