Error-resilient transmission of 3D models

ACM Transactions on Graphics, 2005
In this article, we propose an error-resilient transmission method for progressively compressed 3D models. The proposed method is scalable with respect to both channel bandwidth and channel packet-loss rate. We jointly design source and channel coders using a statistical measure that (i) calculates the number of both source and channel ...

Error recovery in JPEG2000 image transmission

2001 IEEE International Conference on Acoustics, Speech, and Signal Processing. Proceedings (Cat. No.01CH37221), 2002
In this paper, the problem of bit-errors recovery in JPEG2000 images transmission is addressed, with particular attention to errors in the high-frequency components. In the HL and LH sub-bands, differently from the LL band, interpolation based recovering results tend to be often ineffective when more than a few adjacent wavelet coefficients are missing.

Error localization for robust video transmission

IEEE Transactions on Consumer Electronics, 2002
The convergence of Internet, multimedia and mobile applications has led to an increased demand for efficient and reliable video data transmission over heterogeneous networks. Due to their coding efficiency, variable-length codes (VLC) are usually employed in the entropy coding stage of video compression standards.

Planet position errors in planetary transmission: Effect on load sharing and transmission error

Frontiers of Mechanical Engineering, 2013
In this paper an advanced model of spur gear transmissions developed by the authors is used to study the influence of carrier planet pin hole position errors on the behaviour of the transmission. The model, initially conceived for external gear modeling, has been extended with internal meshing features, and thus increasing its capabilities to include ...

Error concealment for 3D video transmission

2013 IEEE International Symposium on Circuits and Systems (ISCAS), 2013
In this paper, an error concealment method for transmission of 3D video in color+depth dual stream format is proposed. Exploiting the correlation between 2D color video and its corresponding depth information, recovery of the lost information of one kind (color/depth) can be achieved with the aid of received information from the other kind (depth/color)

Temporal error concealment for video transmission

2004 IEEE International Conference on Multimedia and Expo (ICME) (IEEE Cat. No.04TH8763), 2005
In this paper, we propose a temporal error concealment algorithm for video transmission in an error-prone environment. The error concealment algorithm employed an edge detection algorithm and progressive median motion vector concealment. First, the edges are detected and concealed portion by portion.

Data transmission and error correcting codes

ICASSP '82. IEEE International Conference on Acoustics, Speech, and Signal Processing, 2005
Data transmission simulation, protected by error correcting code, through noisy channel, is one of A.A.E.C.C. principal research axis. We present two parts of an application of our works ; befor that, we present some recalls of error correcting codes 'theory. a) The hardware part. Automaton DOLVRON-1, completely elaborated in A.A.E.C.C.

Error control and concealment for image transmission

IEEE Communications Surveys & Tutorials, 2000
In the practical transmission of compressed still images, bit errors may occur, which probably result in desynchronization and packet loss. In packet-switched networks, network congestion also results in packet loss. This survey article reviews the error resilience factors that must be faced by a robust image encoder and decoder (codec).

Error detection and correction of transmission errors in SPIHT coded images

Proceedings. International Conference on Image Processing, 2003
This paper presents a novel scheme to improve the robustness of set partitioning in hierarchical tree (SPIHT) based color image coder for transmission over noisy channels. In this scheme, the SPIHT bit streams are re-arranged according to their spatial (square block) representation without loss of coding efficiency.
