Transcriptional profiling of circulating extracellular vesicles from prebiopsy prostate cancer patients

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
RNA profiling of circulating extracellular vesicles (EVs) from blood samples of men undergoing prostate biopsy identifies transcripts associated with clinically significant prostate cancer. Integrative analysis with public tumor datasets links EV‐derived gene signatures to tumor stage and progression‐free survival, highlighting CASP3, XRCC2, and RIT1 ...

The role of industrial design in addressing the disparity between user perceptions of public and private transport

open access: yes, 2007
This paper examines the disparity between the perceptions of private and public transport from those who might exercise choice between them. There is a great body of literature concerning the identification of problems in public transport mobility.

Effects of Short- and Long-Distance Road Transport and Temperament on the Magnitude of β-Endorphin Response in Limousine Bulls

open access: yesRuminants
The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effects of short- and long-distance road transport and temperament on β-endorphin (β-EP) concentrations in 23 Limousine bulls, aged 12 ± 2 months old, taking into account the related effect on body weight (BW)

Metastasis on pause: How dormant tumor cells stay hidden within the tumor microenvironment and evade immune surveillance

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dormant cancer cells can hide in distant organs for years, evading treatment and the immune system. This review highlights how signals from the surrounding tissue and immune environment keep these cells inactive or trigger their reawakening. Understanding these mechanisms may help develop therapies to eliminate or control dormant cells and prevent ...

USP29‐regulated noncanonical stabilization of the hypoxia‐inducible factor‐α in aggressive prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We identify USP29 as the only DUB mirroring CA9 expression, a marker of hypoxia and HIF pathway activation associated with PCA aggressiveness. USP29 stabilizes HIF‐1α and HIF‐2α via a noncanonical mechanism that is independent of PHD/pVHL activity yet relies on proteasomal regulation, establishing USP29 as a previously unrecognized regulator of hypoxic

Serum Oxidative Status and Thiol-Disulfide Homeostasis in Late-Gestation Holstein Heifers with and Without a History of Mid-Gestation Transport

open access: yesVeterinary Sciences
Pregnancy in dairy cattle is characterized by marked metabolic adaptations that may influence oxidative balance. In this study, oxidative stress markers and thiol–disulfide homeostasis were evaluated in transported and non-transported Holstein heifers ...

MITF maintains genome stability in nonmelanocyte lineages

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
MITF is essential for melanocyte survival and acts as an oncogene in 10%–20% of melanomas. We show that MITF depletion causes genome instability in nonmelanocytic cells, leading to LATS2‐mediated P53 activation, cell cycle arrest, and apoptosis. This study highlights the role of MITF as a genome maintenance factor beyond the melanocyte lineage. Created
