Implementing Time Travel for the Web

open access: yesCode4Lib Journal, 2011
This article discusses the challenges and solutions discovered for implementing the Memento protocol in a variety of browser environments. It describes the design and deployment of the client technologies which have been developed: a web application that

Time-Traveling Rules of Interpretation: Of ‘Time-Will’ and ‘Time-Bubbles’

open access: yesSSRN Electronic Journal, 2020
International courts and tribunals are fond of paying lips service to the fact that Articles 31-33 of the Vienna Convention on the Law of Treaties (VCLT) reflect customary international law. This allows them to draw inspiration from the text of the VCLT even in cases where a treaty that is being interpreted was concluded either before 1980 (the date of

Trends in commuter and leisure travel in The Netherlands 1991-2001 - Mode choice and travel time [PDF]

open access: yes
Data collected over recent years indicates that there has been an increase in the average distance of trips made, in the Netherlands (e.g. in 1985 the average trip made was 8.7 km, in 2000 the average trip length was 10.6 km (Harms, 2003)).

PARK(ing) time–How park deficiency affects the biological clock in a Drosophila model of Parkinson's disease

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Drosophila park mutants serve as a model for Parkinson's disease. We used this strain to investigate the connection between oxidative stress and the circadian clock mechanism. We showed that increased oxidative stress affects the physiology of pacemaker cells, disrupting their daily structural plasticity. Lack of rhythmic signaling from pacemaker cells

SPECIFICATION OF A MODEL TO MEASURE THE VALUE OF TRAVEL TIME SAVINGS FROM BINOMIAL DATA [PDF]

open access: yes
Using nonparametric methods, the paper examines the specification of a model to evaluate the distribution of willingness-to-pay (WTP) for travel time savings from binomial choice data from a simple time-cost trading experiment involving four public ...

Illusion of Motion: Variation of Subjective Value of Travel Time on Freeways and Ramp Meters [PDF]

open access: yes
This paper explores drivers' subjective value of time under moving and stopped freeway travel conditions using a stated preference survey. Unlike previous studies that assume a constant value of time, this research relates perceived satisfaction of a ...

Design and analysis strategies for robust microbiome ageing research

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The gut microbiome changes with age and associates with age‐related morbidity and mortality, establishing it as a potential biomarker and intervention target for ageing. Realising this potential requires methodological rigour, yet distinguishing biological signals from methodological artefacts remains challenging across cohorts. This review provides an

Reconstructing enzyme evolution by protein engineering

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Natural enzyme evolution can be retraced by protein engineering methods such as directed evolution, rational design, and ancestral sequence reconstruction. These approaches reveal how enzymes emerged from ligand‐binding scaffolds, developed varying substrate preferences, formed oligomeric complexes, adapted to environmental changes, and evolved novel ...

TRAIL‐PEG‐Apt‐PLGA nanosystem as an aptamer‐targeted drug delivery system potential for triple‐negative breast cancer therapy using in vivo mouse model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aptamers are used both therapeutically and as targeting agents in cancer treatment. We developed an aptamer‐targeted PLGA–TRAIL nanosystem that exhibited superior therapeutic efficacy in NOD/SCID breast cancer models. This nanosystem represents a novel biotechnological drug candidate for suppressing resistance development in breast cancer.
