Associations of Lifestyle‐Related Factors and Psoriatic Arthritis Disease Activity: The Dutch South West Psoriatic Arthritis Study

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective This study aims to investigate lifestyle‐related factors in patients with psoriatic arthritis (PsA) and their association with disease activity measurements. Methods This multicenter cohort included 938 patients who were newly diagnosed with PsA between 2013 and 2023.

Systematic Review: Climate and Non-Climate Factors Influencing Wood Density in the Boreal Zone

open access: yesBioResources, 2023
Wood density is a crucial factor in determining the quality of wood in boreal ecosystems within the Northern Hemisphere. Climate variables play a significant role in shaping wood density, posing challenges for forest managers and stakeholders in the wood

Microstructural Evolution and Vacancy Defect Formation in Mn–Mo–Ni RPV Steel Under Low Cycle Fatigue: Insights From EBSD and PALS

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Low‐cycle fatigue damage in Mn–Mo–Ni reactor pressure vessel steel is examined using a combined electron backscatter diffraction and positron annihilation lifetime spectroscopy approach. The study correlates texture evolution, dislocation substructure development, and vacancy‐type defect formation across uniform, necked, and fracture regions, providing

Combined Process‐ and Phase‐Field‐Simulation to Predict the Microstructure of Single‐Crystal Ni‐Based Superalloys

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A combined finite element and phase‐field approach predicts the evolution of microstructure during the directional solidification of Ni‐based superalloys. The model reveals how withdrawal rate, temperature gradient, and wall thickness control the dendrite spacing, highlighting the strong effect of surface regions in thin sections where dendrite growth ...

Rafting of Ni‐Based Superalloys Under Multiaxial Load as Understood by Phase‐Field Simulations and Critical Experiments

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Phase‐field simulations coupled with dislocation‐density‐based crystal plasticity modeling reproduce γ′ rafting behavior in single‐crystal Ni‐based superalloys under varied loading conditions. The model captures both macroscopic creep and microscopic morphology evolution, with results matching high‐temperature creep experiments.

Post-planting treatments and shading effects in a Fraxinus angustifolia Vahl. silvopastoral system [PDF]

open access: yesAnnals of Forest Research, 2013
Silvopastoral systems present difficulties in their management dueto their complexity. When trees are planted into grasslands, they need protection from livestock to prevent damage from trampling or browsing, especially during early years of ...

Electrical treeing and reverse tree growth in an epoxy resin

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Dielectrics and Electrical Insulation, 2017
An electrical treeing process is presented which consists of two types of electrical tree structures that coexist in the same epoxy resin: these have been termed as ‘filamentary trees’ and ‘reverse trees’. In samples with needle-plane electrode geometries, a filamentary tree that consists of fine tree channels propagates from the needle electrode to ...

Phase Field Failure Modeling: Brittle‐Ductile Dual‐Phase Microstructures under Compressive Loading

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The approach by Amor and the approach by Miehe and Zhang for asymmetric damage behavior in the phase field method for fracture are compared regarding their fitness for microcrack‐based failure modeling. The comparison is performed for the case of a dual‐phase microstructure with a brittle and a ductile constituent.
