Heat transfer enhancement in free convection flow of CNTs Maxwell nanofluids with four different types of molecular liquids

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2017
This article investigates heat transfer enhancement in free convection flow of Maxwell nanofluids with carbon nanotubes (CNTs) over a vertically static plate with constant wall temperature. Two kinds of CNTs i.e.

To say or not to say. The importance of being transparent in retail branding

open access: yes, 2016
In the age of sharing and social media, brands are increasingly being called upon to meet consumers’ demand for transparency. Over the past decades Store Brands (SBs) have increased both their market share and customer loyalty internationally; thus it is

Septin 9 PB domains coordinate centrosome positioning and microtubule acetylation to control epithelial polarity

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Septin 9 polybasic domains couple phosphoinositide‐rich membrane binding to centrosome positioning, Golgi organization, and microtubule acetylation to control epithelial polarity. Their loss disrupts this axis, causing centrosome mispositioning, Golgi fragmentation, reduced microtubule acetylation, and polarity inversion via upregulation of the ...

Multi-Layer Modeling and Visualization of Functional Network Connectivity Shows High Performance for the Classification of Schizophrenia and Cognitive Performance via Resting fMRI

open access: yesBioMed
Background: In functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI), functional network connectivity (FNC) captures temporal coupling among intrinsic connectivity networks (ICNs).

Degradation mechanism of the von Willebrand factor A2 domain by nattokinase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Nattokinase, a natto‐derived protease, exhibits potent antithrombotic effects. This study demonstrates that nattokinase directly cleaves the von Willebrand factor (vWF) A2 domain in vitro. Unlike the native regulator ADAMTS13, nattokinase degrades folded vWF independently of shear stress.

A Dynamic Entropy Approach Reveals Reduced Functional Network Connectivity Trajectory Complexity in Schizophrenia

open access: yesEntropy
Over the past decade and a half, dynamic functional imaging has revealed low-dimensional brain connectivity measures, identified potential common human spatial connectivity states, tracked the transition patterns of these states, and demonstrated ...

Modulation of Homer1 EVH1 domain internal dynamics by putative autism‐associated mutations

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The putative autism‐associated M65I and S97L variants of the EVH1 domain of the postsynaptic scaffold protein Homer1 do not exhibit substantial changes in their overall structure or partner binding. Both of them, but especially the M65I variant, show altered internal dynamics relative to the wild‐type domain on the μs‐ms timescale, indicated by the ...

An unexpected alternative viologen electron mediator site in tungsten‐containing formate dehydrogenase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
An unexpected alternative interaction site for ethyl viologen was identified in formate dehydrogenase 1 from Methylorubrum extorquens. Combined mutagenesis, kinetic analysis, and docking revealed that aromatic residues near an iron–sulfur cluster enable flavin mononucleotide‐independent electron transfer, offering a framework for engineering improved ...

Searching Reproducible Brain Features using NeuroMark: Templates for Different Age Populations and Imaging Modalities

open access: yesNeuroImage
A primary challenge to the data-driven analysis is the balance between poor generalizability of population-based research and characterizing more subject-, study- and population-specific variability.
