tRNA-derived fragments (tRFs) in cancer

Journal of Cell Communication and Signaling, 2022
tRNA fragments (tRNA derived fragments or tRFs) are small single stranded RNA molecules derived from pre-tRNAs and mature tRNAs. tRFs have been known for a number of years, but previously they were believed to be not important products of tRNA degradation. tRFs can be unique, like tRF-1 s, or redundant, like tRF-3 s and tRF-5 s.

tRFs: miRNAs in disguise

Gene, 2016
tRFs and tiRNAs are two new classes of regulatory non-coding small RNAs that are derived from the cleavage of pre-existing tRNAs. tRFs are 18-22 nt long and are classified into the tRF-5, tRF-3, and tRF-1 series. Here, we discuss in detail the regulatory roles of tRFs in translation, viral infections, and carcinogenesis.

Mucosal immunity and tRNA, tRF, and tiRNA

Journal of Molecular Medicine, 2020
Mucosal immunity has crucial roles in human diseases such as respiratory tract infection, inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD), and colorectal cancer (CRC). Recent studies suggest that the mononuclear phagocyte system, cancer cells, bacteria, and viruses induce the mucosal immune reaction by various pathways, and can be major factors in the pathogenesis ...

An examination of the TRF assay reveals a heterogeneity of TRF-like activities.

The Journal of Immunology, 1985
Abstract Supernatant from the cloned Mlsa,d-reactive helper T cell line L2V is a potent source of T cell replacing factor (TRF) activity. To determine whether L2V SF was representative of TRF-active supernatants, it was compared with supernatant from Con A-stimulated spleen cells (CASF) by using TRF assays.

Extensive profiling of the expressions of tRNAs and tRNA-derived fragments (tRFs) reveals the complexities of tRNA and tRF populations in plants

Science China Life Sciences, 2021
Evidence is emerging that tRNA-derived fragments (tRFs) are regulatory molecules. Studies of tRFs in plants have been based on conventional small RNA sequencing, and focused on profiling of tRF-5 and tRF-3 species. A more comprehensive and quantitative analysis of the entire tRF population is highly necessary.

TRF: Learning Kernels with Tuned Random Features

Proceedings of the AAAI Conference on Artificial Intelligence, 2022
Random Fourier features (RFF) are a popular set of tools for constructing low-dimensional approximations of translation-invariant kernels, allowing kernel methods to be scaled to big data. Apart from their computational advantages, by working in the spectral domain random Fourier features expose the translation invariant kernel as a density function ...
