Better Together: Photoredox/Copper Dual Catalysis in Atom Transfer Radical Polymerization

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, Volume 137, Issue 2, January 10, 2025.
A combination of Cu‐ATRP catalysis with photocatalysts (PCs) that absorb visible and/or NIR light exhibits synergistic action at the ppm/ppb concentration level. It leads to very well‐defined polymers with rates depending on the amount and quantum efficiency of PC but controlled polymer architecture defined by the Cu‐catalysts.

Insigths into the tribochemistry of silicon-doped carbon based films by ab initio analysis of water/surface interactions

open access: yes, 2015
Diamond and diamond-like carbon (DLC) are used as coating materials for numerous applications, ranging from biomedicine to tribology. Recently, it has been shown that the hydrophilicity of the carbon films can be enhanced by silicon doping, which highly ...

The influence of anti-wear additive ZDDP on doped and undoped diamond-like carbon coatings [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Diamond-like carbon (DLC) coatings are recognised as a promising way to reduce friction and improve wear performance of automotive engine components. DLC coatings provide new possibilities in the improvement of the tribological performance of automotive ...

A fundamental mechanism for carbon-film lubricity identified by means of ab initio molecular dynamics

open access: yes, 2016
Different hypotheses have been proposed to explain the mechanism for the extremely low friction coefficient of carbon coatings and its undesired dependence on air humidity.

Ab initio informed machine learning potential for tribochemistry and mechanochemistry: Application for eco–friendly gallate lubricant additive

open access: yesComputational Materials Today
Mechanochemistry and tribochemistry processes involve multiple physical/chemical interactions induced by extreme conditions including molecular confinement, high temperatures and mechanical stress applied. Simulating these processes by molecular dynamics
