Environmental aspects of tributyltin

Applied Organometallic Chemistry, 1987
AbstractThe tributyltin species, the active ingredient in some antifouling paint formulations, is perhaps the most acutely toxic chemical to aquatic organisms ever deliberately introduced to water. It has been demonstrated to have an adverse effect on shellfish in France and England, and as a consequence the use of tributyltin‐containing antifouling ...

CCQM-K28: Tributyltin in sediment

Metrologia, 2006
Key comparison CCQM K-28 was undertaken to assess the measurement capabilities for quantitation of (C4H9)3Sn+ (TBT) in a prepared marine sediment by National Metrology Institutes (NMIs), which are members of the Comité Consultatif pour la Quantité de Matière (CCQM). It follows a previous pilot study, CCQM-P18. [1, 2] This exercise was sanctioned by the

Tributyltin causes masculinization in fish

Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry, 2003
Abstract We examined the effect of tributyltin (TBT) on the sex differentiation process in genetically female Japanese flounder (Paralichthys olivaceus). The fish were fed an artificial diet containing tributyltin oxide (TBTO) at concentrations of 0.1 and 1.0 μg/g diet from 35 to 100 d after hatching, which includes the sex ...

Synthesis of Hexabutylditin from Tributyltin Hydride and bis(Tributyltin)oxide

Synthetic Communications, 2004
Abstract Heating a mixture of tributyltin hydride (>2 mol equiv.) and bis(tributyltin)oxide cleanly produces hexabutylditin in excellent yield.

Reaction of azoarenes with tributyltin hydride

The Journal of Organic Chemistry, 1992
Tributyltin hydride when reacted with a series of substituted azoarenes afforded hydrazo compounds with high chemoselectivity and good to high yields. With ortho-substituted azoarenes, mixtures of hydrazo derivatives and N-heterocycles or cyclic products only were obtained.

Toxicity of tributyltin to willow trees

Environmental Science and Pollution Research, 2004
Tributyltin is an organotin compound, used as an antifouling agent in ship paint, with heavy impact on the marine environment. Contaminated dredged harbor sludge is now dumped on land. The toxicity of tributyltin (TBT) to trees has not yet been quantified.
