Tributyltin partitioning in sediments: Effect of aging

The effect of aging on the solid/pore-water partitioning and desorption behaviour of tributyltin (TBT) in sediments was examined. Three sediment samples with contrasting physical and chemical properties were spiked with 10 mg/kg TBT and aged under sterile conditions for periods of time ranging from 1 to 84 days.

Tributyltin in Canadian Waters

This chapter is a summary of investigations of the occurrence of tributyltin (TBT) and its less toxic degradation products in water and sediment in Canada in the period 1980–1985. Tributyltin was mainly found in areas of heavy boating or shipping traffic, which was consistent with its use as an antifouling agent.
