The role of triiodothyronine (T3) and T3/free thyroxine (fT4) in glucose metabolism during pregnancy: the Ma’anshan birth cohort study

open access: yesEndocrine Connections, 2021
Objectives: Compared with other thyroid markers, fewer studies have explored the associations between triiodothyronine (T3), T3/free thyroxine (fT4) and glucose abnormality during pregnancy.

Neurobehavioral function and low-level exposure to brominated flame retardants in adolescents : a cross-sectional study [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Background: Animal and in vitro studies demonstrated a neurotoxic potential of brominated flame retardants, a group of chemicals used in many household and commercial products to prevent fire.

Targeting Post‐Irradiation Thyroid Dysfunction: Electrospun Scaffolds As A Dual‐Action Approach for Antioxidant and Immune Modulation

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Radiation‐induced hypothyroidism follows head and neck radiotherapy due to oxidative stress and inflammation. Electrospun polycaprolactone scaffolds containing adenosine have potential to modulate thyroid repair. Scaffolds enhance thyrocyte proliferation, antioxidant enzymes glutathione peroxidase and catalase, reduce senescence and apoptosis markers ...

Molecular Actions of Thyroid Hormone on Breast Cancer Cell Migration and Invasion via Cortactin/N-WASP

open access: yesFrontiers in Endocrinology, 2019
The thyroid hormone triiodothyronine (T3) plays a fundamental role in growth regulation, differentiation, metabolism and cellular movement. These processes are particularly important considering that deregulation of T3 levels could promote abnormal ...

TRH: Pathophysiologic and clinical implications [PDF]

open access: yes, 1985
Thyrotropin releasing hormone is thought to be a tonic stimulator of the pituitary TSH secretion regulating the setpoint of the thyrotrophs to the suppressive effect of thyroid hormones. The peptide stimulates the release of normal and elevated prolactin.

Small Extracellular Vesicles from Neural Cells: Physiological and Pathological Roles, and Potential in Neurodegenerative Therapy

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Neural cell–derived small extracellular vesicles (sEVs) are emerging as pivotal mediators in neurodegenerative diseases, exerting both pathogenic and therapeutic functions. This review synthesizes current evidence on how sEVs from distinct neural cell types regulate neurodegeneration, neuroprotection, biomarker discovery, and targeted drug delivery ...

Resting energy expenditure is lower in Japanese female athletes with menstrual disorders than in eumenorrheic athletes

open access: yesJournal of Physical Fitness and Sports Medicine, 2022
Menstrual disorders are health problems in female athletes. It has also been reported that amenorrhea can lead to metabolic suppression. However, studies regarding resting energy expenditure (REE) in Japanese female athletes with menstrual disorders are ...

Targeting the PDK1/c‐Myc/SOX10 Signaling in Oligodendrocytes Alleviates Neuropathic Pain

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This work reveals that oligodendrocyte homeostasis, mediated by PDK1, is a critical determinant of neuropathic pain (NPP) pathogenesis. Disruption of PDK1 in oligodendrocytes impairs SOX10‐dependent myelination programs through c‐Myc accumulation, leading to disrupted myelination and the pathophysiology of NPP.

Effect Of Organic Selenium And Iodine Supplementation On Selenium And Thyroid Hormones Status Of Lactating Ewes And Lambs

open access: yesActa Veterinaria, 2015
The aim of this research was to determine the influence of 56-days (from day 4 to day 60 post partum) of simultaneous supplementation of selenium (Se) and iodine (I) enriched Chlorella algae on blood and urine Se concentrations and thyroid hormone levels

Associations of Blood Analysis with Feed Efficiency and Developmental Stage in Grass-Fed Beef Heifers

open access: yesAnimals, 2018
Proxies for feed efficiency, such as blood-based indicators, applicable across heifers varying in genetic makeup and developmental state are needed. Assessments of blood analytes and performance were made in heifer calves and pregnant heifers.
