Phylogenetic and biochemical analyses of the heme transporter CydDC reveal its functional conservation throughout bacterial evolution and demonstrate its unique asymmetric allosteric mechanism. Furthermore, impairment of CydDC function directly affects bacterial antibiotic resistance and likely compromises antibiotic efficacy through drug efflux.

Background By age three, 5%–75% of children have a documented antibiotic allergy (AL). Despite this prevalence, recognition remains low because of limited clinician knowledge and time. Our study evaluates a novel approach to identifying AL using electronic medical record (EMR) prescription patterns.

Trimethoprim–Sulfamethoxazole versus Placebo for Uncomplicated Skin Abscess
BACKGROUND U.S. emergency department visits for cutaneous abscess have increased with the emergence of methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA). The role of antibiotics for patients with a drained abscess is unclear.

Precision Chemistry for Protein Lysine Modification
Selective modification of lysine residues is challenging due to their similar intrinsic reactivity. Inspired by enzymatic recognition, ligand‐guided electrophiles enable site‐selective labeling and functionalization, while ligand‐guided catalyses achieve regioselective installation of bio‐relevant post‐translational modifications.

Regulatory agencies request the assessment of the potential of new drugs to cause transporter‐mediated drug‐drug interactions (DDI). This assessment can be improved by integrating endogenous biomarkers during drug development. Regarding the renal excretion of drugs such as metformin, the organic cation transporter (OCT) 2 and multidrug and toxin ...

In this study, we synthesized a novel trimethoprim derivative, 4-(((2-amino-5-(3,4,5-trimethoxybenzyl) pyrimidine-4-yl)imino)methyl)benzene-1,3-diol (HD), by the reaction of trimethoprim with 2,4-dihydroxybenzaldehyde. We then prepared metal complexes of
