Polygalacturonic acid hydrazide, a nucleophilic polysaccharide, can react in water with reducing sugars such as D‐glucose under mild reaction conditions. A new, all‐sugar‐based polymer could be obtained. This reaction is reversible, allowing for the accumulation of glucose at the polymer backbone.

Synthesis and Properties of Acetylenic Scaffolds Modeling Segments of 6,6,12‐Graphyne

In a combined experimental and computational study, we present the synthesis as well as redox and optical properties of small model systems representing segments of the elusive carbon allotrope 6,6,12‐graphyne. These model systems are acetylenic scaffolds incorporating tetraethynylethenes (TEEs) as core units separating benzene rings.
