Nuerological finding in triosephosphate isomerase deficiency

Annals of Neurology, 1985
AbstractTwo siblings with hemolytic anemia caused by triosephosphate isomerase deficiency developed a progressive neurological syndrome featuring dystonic movements, tremor, pyramidal tract signs, and evidence of spinal motor neuron involvement. Intelligence was unaffected.

Unstable triosephosphate isomerase (TPI)

Pathology, 1980
This study was undertaken in the investigation of a child with chronic non-spherocytic haemolytic anaemia. B.C. was born in 1977 of unrelated parents. His father has β-thalassaemia minor. He required an exchange transfusion for neonatal jaundice and subsequently has had persistent anaemia, splenomegaly and intermittent jaundice.

Triosephosphate Isomerase Deficiency

American Journal of Diseases of Children, 1982
• A 12-year-old girl had chronic nonspherocytic hemolytic anemia due to triosephosphate isomerase deficiency. Developmental and motor delay and muscular weakness were followed by cerebellar dysfunction and finally spasticity with hyperreflexia. Abnormal histopathological findings were hyaline cell bodies and axonal "spheroids" in the hypothalamus and ...

Cold Adaptation of Triosephosphate Isomerase

Biochemistry, 2017
The main problem for enzymes from psychrophilic species, which need to work near the freezing point of liquid water, is the exponential decay of reaction rates as the temperature is decreased. Cold-adapted enzymes have solved this problem by shifting the activation enthalpy-entropy balance for the catalyzed reaction compared to those of their ...

Triosephosphate isomerase deficiency: 2 new cases

Scandinavian Journal of Haematology, 1985
2 new cases of triosephosphate isomerase (TPI) deficiency associated with severe haemolytic anaemia in 2 unrelated Italian families are described. Only 1 case was extensively investigated. TPI deficiency was detectable in erythrocytes, leucocytes, platelets and plasma. The mutant enzyme showed normal Km for GAP and increased Km for DHAP, with an higher
