Advanced Triploid Pregnancy and Preeclampsia

Southern Medical Journal, 1995
Triploidy, though unusual in advanced gestations, may be associated with preeclampsia. The increase in paternal genetic material associated with the triploid diandric placenta may support the role of immunologic factors in the development of preeclampsia.

Barr Bodies in Triploid Cells

Cytogenetic and Genome Research, 1963
The presence of Barr bodies was investigated in cells of a fibroblast culture, which consisted mainly of diploid cells with two X-chromosomes and triploid cells with three X-chromosomes in approximately equal numbers. Out of a total of 1000 cells, 487 cells contained a single Barr body and 64 contained two Barr bodies.

Triploid Grass Carp: Triploid Induction, Sterility, Reversion, and Certification

North American Journal of Fisheries Management, 2011
Abstract Nonnative grass carp Ctenopharyngodon idella have been used in the United States to control aquatic plants for approximately 42 years and are widely dispersed across 45 states, with reproduction occurring in 7 Mississippi River basin states.

Identification of Triploid Genome by Fluorescence Microscopy

Science, 1972
Fluorescence markers on chromosome numbers 3, 13, and 14 gave cytological evidence of the paternal origin of the extra haploid set in a premature triploid infant with XXY sex chromosome complement. The mother had discontinued the use of oral contraceptives 13 months prior to conception.

Human triploid embryo

Human Genetics, 1977
A cytogenetic and anatomopathologic study of an embryo of 24 mm crown-rump length showing pure triploidy (69,XXY) is reported. Anomalies such as unilateral genitourinary agenesia, aortic alterations, defects in cerebral development, and anomalies of the chorionic villi were detected.

Isolation of Triploid Saccharomyces cerevisiæ

Nature, 1952
THE production of tetraploids in a brewery yeast has been reported by Subramaniam and Krishna Murthy1 and Mitra and Subramaniam2, following treatment with acenaphthene and chrysene. These authors did not present genetic evidence to support their claim, which was based mainly on colony and other gross observations. Cytological evidence has recently been

The biology of triploid fish

Reviews in Fish Biology and Fisheries, 2004
This review deals with major areas of triploidy research in fish. It includes not only methods for induction and detection of triploidy but also the impact of triploidy on morphology, anatomy, growth, haematology, energetics, behaviour, endocrinology and gonads in various species of fish, studied so far.

Studies on a triploid, a tetrasomic triploid and a trisomic plant of Dactylis glomerata

Chromosoma, 1964
1. From 4 n×2 n and reciprocal crosses within Dactylis glomerata subsp. lusitanica and D.g. subsp. smithii and between these two subspecies, two triploids, two polyhaploids and a 3n+1 plant were obtained. The two subspecies differ considerably as regards the extent of crossability with respect to intrasubspecific 2n×4n and recriprocal crosses.

Estimating the origins of human trisomies and triploids

Annals of Human Genetics, 1981
8. SUMMARYA counting method has been developed to estimate the probabilities of origin of trisomy and triploidy. A method for finding the standard errors of the estimators has also been developed. It has also been shown that this counting method is equivalent to the method of maximum likelihood.

Cytogenetic mechanisms for triploid and haploid egg formation in the triploid loachMisgurnus anguillicaudatus

The Journal of Experimental Zoology, 1998
The triploid (diploid × tetraploid) loach Misgurnus anguillicaudatus lays large, triploid eggs and small, haploid eggs simultaneously. We conducted cytogenetic examination of gonadal cells to determine the mechanisms responsible for this unusual oogenesis.
