To gain a better understanding of cold acclimation process in wheat, we applied a 2-DE based proteomic approach to discover changes in proteome profile of a diploid wild wheat (Triticum urartu L.) during prolonged cold stress treatment. To this end, plants were grown in pots and the growing seedlings (4-leaf stage) were exposed to cold stress.

A powdery mildew resistance gene from Triticum urartu Tum. accession UR206 was successfully transferred into hexaploid wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) through crossing and backcrossing. The F1 plants, which had 28 chromosomes and an average of 5.32 bivalents and 17.36 univalents in meiotic pollen mother cells (PMC), were obtained through embryos rescued ...

TuMTP1 maintains Zn2+ and Co2+ homeostasis by sequestering excess Zn2+ and Co2+ into vacuoles. The mutations NSEDD/VTVTT in the His-rich loop and I119F in TMD3 of TuMTP1 restrict metal selectivity. Mineral nutrients, such as zinc (Zn) and cobalt (Co), are essential or beneficial for plants but can be toxic at elevated levels.

Basis of difference between reciprocal crosses involving Triticum boeoticum and T. urartu
Theoretical and Applied Genetics, 1977The boeoticum (♀) X urartu (♂) F1 hybrids gave small, plump and viable seeds while the reciprocal crosses with T. urartu as the female parent had long, shrivelled and non-viable seeds. Reciprocal nuclear-substitution lines comprising the nucleus of one species into the cytoplasm of the other were developed through repeated backcrossing and were crossed

Triticum urartu, Aegilops speltoides and Ae. tauschii are respectively the immediate diploid sources, or their closest relatives, of the A, B and D genomes of polyploid wheats. Here we report the construction and characterization of arrayed large-insert libraries in a bacterial artificial chromosome (BAC) vector, one for each of these diploid species ...

THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN THE GENOME OF TRITICUM URARTU AND THE A AND B GENOMES OF TRITICUM AESTIVUM
Canadian Journal of Genetics and Cytology, 1976Triticum urartu (2n = 14) was crossed with T. aestivum lines ditelosomic for chromosomes of the A and B genomes. Except for telosome 4Aα, the rest of the telosomes of the A genome paired in these hybrids while telosomes of the B genome did not pair. This indicates that T.

Prenyl transferase enzyme is widely distributed among plants. This enzyme catalyses prenylation reaction, that leads to increased flavonoid's activity. In this research, highly conserved polyprenyl patterns have been analysed in plants. Prenyl transferase in Triticum urartu, Oryza sativa japonica and Zea mays share presence of conserved motif ...

The effect of benzyladenine (BA) on the activation of rRNA gene transcription was studied in wheat (Triticum aestivum and T. urartu) as related to the phenomenon of nucleolar dominance and the changes in the extent of methylation of the intergenic spacers in the subgenome A.

As the largest class of resistant genes, the nucleotide binding site (NBS) has been studied extensively at a genome-wide level in rice, sorghum, maize, barley and hexaploid wheat. However, no such comprehensive analysis has been conducted of the NBS gene family in Triticum urartu, the donor of the A genome to the common wheat.
