A novel Cas12b cytosine base editor enables efficient C‐to‐T base editing in the rice genome

open access: yesJournal of Integrative Plant Biology, EarlyView.
The base editor dAaCas12b accurately induces C‐to‐T mutations in rice. It recognizes unique TTTV DNA motifs with a wider editing window, and its optimized guide RNA boosts efficiency, expanding crop gene‐editing resources.

The TaRNS4–TaPP2C10 module regulates wheat resistance to stripe rust through RNA degradation and MAPK cascades

open access: yesJournal of Integrative Plant Biology, EarlyView.
In wheat, phosphorylation of the S‐like RNase TaRNS4 mediated by the kinase TaRLK5 promotes its degradation of Puccinia striiformis f. sp. tritici RNA in the apoplast, enhancing resistance to stripe rust. TaRNS4 can hijack phosphatase TaPP2C10 to relieve its dephosphorylation of TaMAPK6, thereby activating MAPK‐mediated immune responses. ABSTRACT RNase

A Single‐Nucleotide Substitution Generates a de Novo Promoter That Activates a Latent Metabolic Bypass in Escherichia coli

open access: yesMolecular Microbiology, EarlyView.
A chromosomal mutation allows bypass of deletion of the Escherichia coli fabH gene. The bypass results from creation of a new promoter that drives increased madA transcription, resulting in increased synthesis of acetyl‐acyl carrier protein by decarboxylation of malonyl‐acyl carrier protein.

High‐Contiguity Haplotype‐Resolved Genome Assembly of the Hexaploid Actinidia valvata Rootstock Sheds Light on Waterlogging Resistance Gene

open access: yesPlant Biotechnology Journal, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Polyploidisation, creating redundant or diverged copies of the genome, is a major driving force in plant evolution, diversification and environmental adaptation, including for the kiwifruit genus (Actinidia Lindl.). We present a high‐contiguity, haplotype‐resolved genome assembly of the hexaploid Actinidia valvata rootstock cultivar ...

Insights Into the Origin and Local Adaptation Evolution of the Cultivated Sesame With Telomere‐to‐Telomere High‐Quality Genome

open access: yesPlant Biotechnology Journal, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Sesame (Sesamum indicum L., 2n = 26) is one of the oldest oilseed crops and is often called the ‘queen of oilseeds’ due to its high content of unsaturated fatty acids and natural antioxidants. Despite its long history, the origin and global spread of cultivated sesame remain unresolved.
