Random number visualization using the TRNG
2015 Second International Conference on Computer Science, Computer Engineering, and Social Media (CSCESM), 2015There are not a lot of artworks which touches on randomization. Artists such as Jackson Pollock, Karl Sim, and Gregory Volk tried to reach true randomness in their artworks. However, In this paper, I will evaluate why those artists failed to achieve randomness and create artworks using the random number generator in order to reach the true randomness.

Observing the Randomness in RO-Based TRNG
2009 International Conference on Reconfigurable Computing and FPGAs, 2009The paper deals with true random number generators using a set of ring oscillators as proposed by Sunar et al. in 2007. The original generator has been recently enhanced by Wold and Tan by introducing flip-flops at the output of each ring. We show in the first part of the paper that both original and enhanced architectures have exactly the same ...

Enhanced TRNG based on the coherent sampling
2009 3rd International Conference on Signals, Circuits and Systems (SCS), 2009The paper presents several modifications of the True Random Number Generator proposed by Kohlbrenner and Gaj in 2004. The generator is based on a coherent sampling principle and it is aimed at cryptographic applications. It uses the timing jitter present in two clock signals with close frequencies as entropy source.

Quantum Photonic TRNG with Dual Extractor
2019An enhanced true random number generator (TRNG) architecture based on a photonic entropy source is presented. Photonic TRNGs are known to produce photon sequences at randomly distributed time intervals as well as random superimposed quantum states. We describe a TRNG architecture that takes advantage of both of these sources of entropy with a dual ...

Improving the Robustness of Ring Oscillator TRNGs
ACM Transactions on Reconfigurable Technology and Systems, 2010A ring oscillator-based true-random number generator design (Rings design) was introduced in Sunar et al. [2007]. The design was rigorously analyzed under a simple mathematical model and its performance characteristics were established. In this article we focus on the practical aspects of the Rings design on a reconfigurable logic platform and ...

Bias in the Mifare DESFire EV1 TRNG
2017The limited computational capabilities of low-cost RFID cards may induce security weaknesses stemming from concessions made in hardware. In particular, RFID cards with weak pseudo-random number generators (PRNGs) can leak secret information. Current generation RFID cards, such as the Mifare DESFire EV1, improve on the cryptographic and random number ...

Randomness Assessment in Oscillator Based Elementary TRNG
2014Jittery clock signals produced in oscillators, particularly in ring oscillators are commonly used as a source of randomness in true random number generators (TRNG). The robustness of the generators, and hence their security, is closely linked to the entropy of the generated bit stream, which depends on the size of the jitter.
