Commodity risk assessment of Petunia spp. and Calibrachoa spp. unrooted cuttings from Costa Rica

open access: yesEFSA Journal, Volume 22, Issue 11, November 2024.
Abstract The European Commission requested the EFSA Panel on Plant Health to evaluate the probability of entry of pests (likelihood of pest freedom at entry), including both regulated and non‐regulated pests, associated with unrooted cuttings of the genera Petunia and Calibrachoa produced under physical isolation in Costa Rica.

Oviposition strategies in Pieridae butterflies and the role of an egg‐killing plant trait therein

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 14, Issue 7, July 2024.
We screened six Pieridae butterfly species that are commonly found in the Netherlands by documenting their host plant selection, oviposition sites and plant response to oviposition. In agreement with previous screenings in the greenhouse, egg deposition induces leaf necrosis only in certain lineages and tissues.

Flowering time response of Nasturtium (Tropaeolum majus L.) cultivar ‘Empress of India’ to photoperiod, light integral and temperature using photo-thermal model [PDF]

open access: yesSongklanakarin Journal of Science and Technology (SJST), 2015
Experiments were carried out to study flowering response of Nasturtium under four distinct controlled photoperiods (8, 11, 14, and 17 h.d-1), shading materials (0, 20, 30 and 40%) and five temperature regimes (10, 15, 20, 25, and 30°C).

The male germ unit association is independently regulated of GUM in Arabidopsis thaliana

open access: yesPlant Direct, Volume 8, Issue 7, July 2024.
Abstract Cytoplasmic projections (CPs) formed by the generative and sperm cells link the male gametes with the vegetative cell (VC) nucleus, which are required to build the male germ unit (MGU) assemblage in the angiosperm pollen grain. As molecular and genetic controls underlying CP development and formation of the MGU are unknown, it was hypothesized
