Effect of training system and in row spacing on yield and fruit quality of peach in the sub-tropical regions

open access: diamondIndian Journal of Horticulture, 2017
Information on the use of different training systems in peach under the sub-tropics is inadequate. Trees of Shan-i-Punjab peach were planted at two spacings, viz., 5 m x 2 m and 5 m x 3 m and were trained to four training systems, viz., Y shaped, Hedge row, Espalier and V trellis.

Leaf bud endodormancy release in peach trees: evaluation of temperature models in temperate and tropical climates

open access: closedAgricultural and Forest Meteorology, 1993
Abstract A biological test (‘single node cuttings’ test) was used to study the endodormancy dynamics of the leaf buds of three peach tree varieties in tropical and temperate climates over 3 years. Results showed evolution in the growth capacities of the leaf buds throughout endodormancy in both climates and it was thus possible to determine dates of ...

Bud break delay on single node cuttings and bud capacity for nucleotide accumulation as parameters for endo- and paradormancy in peach trees in a tropical climate

open access: closedScientia Horticulturae, 1993
Abstract Two tests, one biological the other biochemical, were used to determine the nature of growth inhibition during ‘winter’ rest of leaf buds of peach trees cultivated in the tropical climate of Reunion Island. The ‘cuttings’ test measures the growth capacity of the bud attached to a shoot segment and thus may reveal either paradormancy or ...
