Cardiac troponin I but not cardiac troponin T adheres to polysulfone dialyser membranes in an in vitro haemodialysis model: explanation for lower serum cTnI concentrations following dialysis. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
BACKGROUND: Elevated serum cardiac troponin T (cTnT) and I (cTnI) can occur in patients with chronic kidney disease. Differences in cTn concentrations between cTnT and cTnI have been reported but the mechanism of such discrepancy has not been ...

Phosphorylation of the ‘37000 component’ of the troponin complex (troponin-T) [PDF]

open access: yesBiochemical Journal, 1973
Most of the phosphorus present in the troponin complex, which on average contains 1 mol of P/80000g, is associated with the ‘37000 component’ (0.6mol of P/mol). The inhibitory protein and particularly the ‘37000 component’, but not the calcium-binding protein, were phosphorylated when incubated with phosphorylase b kinase and [γ-32P]ATP.

QT and Tpeak‐Tend interval variability: Predictive electrical markers of hospital stay length and mortality in acute decompensated heart failure. Preliminary data

open access: yesClinical Cardiology, Volume 45, Issue 12, Page 1192-1198, December 2022., 2022
Abstract Background As previously reported, an increased repolarization temporal imbalance induces a higher risk of total/cardiovascular mortality. Hypothesis The aim of this study was to assess if the electrocardiographic short period markers of repolarization temporal dispersion could be predictive of the hospital stay length and mortality in ...

Relationship Between Peak Troponin Values and Long‐Term Ischemic Events Among Medically Managed Patients With Acute Coronary Syndromes

open access: yesJournal of the American Heart Association: Cardiovascular and Cerebrovascular Disease, 2017
BackgroundThe relationship between troponin level and outcomes among patients with non‐ST‐segment elevation ACS is established, but the relationship of troponin level with long‐term outcomes among medically managed non‐ST‐segment elevation ACS patients ...

High-sensitivity troponin assays for early rule-out of acute myocardial infarction in people with acute chest pain: a systematic review and economic evaluation

open access: yesHealth Technology Assessment, 2021
Background: Early diagnosis of acute myocardial infarction is important, but only 20% of emergency admissions for chest pain will actually have an acute myocardial infarction.

Troponins, Acute Coronary Syndrome and Renal Disease: From Acute Kidney Injury Through End-stage Kidney Disease [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
The diagnosis of acute coronary syndromes (ACS) is heavily dependent on cardiac biomarker assays, particularly cardiac troponins. ACS, particularly non-ST segment elevation MI, are more common in patients with acute kidney injury, chronic kidney disease (

Predictors and morphological properties of culprit healed plaques in patients with angina pectoris

open access: yesClinical Cardiology, Volume 45, Issue 12, Page 1199-1210, December 2022., 2022
Abstract Background Plaque healing may serve a vital function in the natural progression of atherosclerotic disease. This study sought to investigate predictors and morphological characteristics of healed plaque (HP) among angina pectoris (AP) patients.

Neurohormonal Blockade and Circulating Cardiovascular Biomarkers During Anthracycline Therapy in Breast Cancer Patients: Results From the PRADA (Prevention of Cardiac Dysfunction During Adjuvant Breast Cancer Therapy) Study

open access: yesJournal of the American Heart Association: Cardiovascular and Cerebrovascular Disease, 2017
BackgroundAnthracyclines are associated with cardiotoxic effects. Cardiovascular biomarkers may reflect myocardial injury, dysfunction, inflammation, and fibrosis and may precede and predict the development of left ventricular impairment. The aim of this

Associations of High‐Sensitivity Troponin and Natriuretic Peptide Levels With Serious Adverse Events in SPRINT

open access: yesJournal of the American Heart Association: Cardiovascular and Cerebrovascular Disease, 2022
Background Assessing the risk of serious adverse events (SAEs) during hypertension treatment is important for understanding the benefit‐harm trade‐offs of lower blood pressure goals. It is unknown whether high‐sensitivity cardiac troponin T (hs‐cTnT) and
