Generation of Nonintegrative‐Induced Pluripotent Stem Cells in Hutchinson‐Gilford Progeria Syndrome: Enhancing Aging Research

open access: yesAGING MEDICINE, EarlyView.
We generated genetically stable iPSCs from HGPS patients using a nonintegrative Sendai virus method. This approach preserves cellular integrity, enhances disease modeling, and enables accurate study of Progerin‐induced cardiovascular dysfunction. Overall, it provides a reliable platform for understanding HGPS and aging‐related disease pathology and ...

Troponins in Renal Dysfunction [PDF]

open access: yesThe International Journal of Artificial Organs, 2000
“I have yet to see any problem, however complicated, which, when you looked at it in the right way, did not become still more complicated.” Poul (William) Anderson

Impact of soluble fms-like tyrosine kinase-1 and placental growth factor serum levels for risk stratification and early diagnosis in patients with suspected acute myocardial infarction [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Aims Angiogenic factors play an important role in the development of atherosclerosis and show pronounced changes during acute myocardial infarction (AMI). We analysed the impact of placental growth factor (PlGF) and its endogen opponent, soluble fms-like

Confinement‐Enhanced Ultrabright AIE Nanoparticles With Broad Emission for Ultrasensitive Lateral Flow Immunoassay

open access: yesAggregate, EarlyView.
Molecular confinement via polymer network allows for significant emission enhancement (80‐fold) of AIEgen with the exceptional quantum yield of 91%, and ultra‐stable photobleaching after continuous irradiation. Subsequently, by adjusting the filter bandwidth, remarkable signal amplification (2–10 folds) is achieved, and the sensitive detection was ...

The implementation of persuasive technology principles in mobile application development: a qualitative study [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Preceding studies of persuasive technology have mentioned several benefits on the implementation of persuasive design features of the Persuasive System Design (PSD) model such as creating users' engagement and acceptance and continuous usage.

The HRAS Variant c.175G>A (p.Ala59Thr) Causes a Predominantly Ectodermal Phenotype Lacking Classic Costello Syndrome Features

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Medical Genetics Part A, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Costello syndrome (CS) is a rare dominant HRAS RASopathy characterized by curly hair, cardiac abnormalities, craniofacial anomalies, and developmental delay. HRAS codon 58, 59, and 60 variants are associated with milder phenotypes. We describe a three‐generation family with a previously unreported heterozygous HRAS variant c.175G>A (p.Ala59Thr)

Targeted Proteomics upon Treatment with Tofersen Identifies Novel Response Markers for Superoxide Dismutase 1‐Linked Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis

open access: yesAnnals of Neurology, EarlyView.
Objective Tofersen is the first effective and approved therapy for superoxide dismutase 1 (SOD1)‐associated amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS [SOD1‐ALS]). Following treatment with tofersen, neurofilament levels in patients' cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) and serum seem to respond earlier than clinical parameters.

Skeletal Muscle Biomarkers of Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis: A Large‐Scale, Multi‐Cohort Proteomic Study

open access: yesAnnals of Neurology, EarlyView.
Objective Biomarkers with clear contexts of use are important tools for amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) therapy development. Understanding their longitudinal trajectory in the untreated state is key to their use as potential markers of pharmacodynamic response.

Relationship between serum cardiac troponin T and I with Left ventricular hypertrophy and systolic dysfunction in hemodialysis patients

open access: yesمجله دانشگاه علوم پزشکی گرگان, 2014
Background and Objective: Cardiovascular diseases are the most frequent cause of death among hemodialysis patients. Left ventricular hypertrophy and systolic dysfunction are potent predictors of cardiovascular morbidity and mortality in hemodialysis ...
