Investigation of the oxidation of methyl vinyl ketone (MVK) by OH radicals in the atmospheric simulation chamber SAPHIR [PDF]

open access: yesAtmospheric Chemistry and Physics, 2018
The photooxidation of methyl vinyl ketone (MVK) was investigated in the atmospheric simulation chamber SAPHIR for conditions at which organic peroxy radicals (RO2) mainly reacted with NO (high NO case) and for conditions at which other reaction ...

Климатическая изменчивость стратосферно-тропосферных взаимодействий, наблюдаемая в последние десятилетия

open access: yesVestnik KRAUNC: Fiziko-Matematičeskie Nauki, 2021
В данной работе показано, как изменялось взаимодействие между тропосферой и стратосферой в последние десятилетия. Также оценено влияние таких явлений, как квазидвухлетнее колебание (КДК) на данное взаимодействие.

Residuals of Tropospheric Delays from GNSS Data and Ray-Tracing as a Potential Indicator of Rain and Clouds

open access: yesRemote Sensing, 2018
The Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) is commonly recognized by its all-weather capability. However, observations depend on atmospheric conditions which requires the induced tropospheric delay to be estimated as an unknown parameter.

Investigation of the β-pinene photooxidation by OH in the atmosphere simulation chamber SAPHIR [PDF]

open access: yesAtmospheric Chemistry and Physics, 2017
Besides isoprene, monoterpenes are the non-methane volatile organic compounds (VOCs) with the highest global emission rates. Due to their high reactivity towards OH, monoterpenes can dominate the radical chemistry of the atmosphere in forested areas ...

MieAI: a neural network for calculating optical properties of internally mixed aerosol in atmospheric models

open access: yesnpj Climate and Atmospheric Science
Aerosols influence weather and climate by interacting with radiation through absorption and scattering. These effects heavily rely on the optical properties of aerosols, which are mainly governed by attributes such as morphology, size distribution, and ...

Characterizing Atmospheric Transport Pathways to Antarctica and the Remote Southern Ocean Using Radon-222

open access: yesFrontiers in Earth Science, 2018
We discuss remote terrestrial influences on boundary layer air over the Southern Ocean and Antarctica, and the mechanisms by which they arise, using atmospheric radon observations as a proxy. Our primary motivation was to enhance the scientific community’

Tropospheric and Ionospheric Modeling Using GNSS Time Series in Volcanic Eruptions (La Palma, 2021)

open access: yesEngineering Proceedings, 2023
The signal coming from the artificial satellites of the GNSS system suffers various effects that considerably decrease the precision in solving the positioning problem. To mathematically model these effects, the atmosphere is divided into two main parts,

Considerations on the dynamics of a cold spell over Greece

open access: yesMeteorologische Zeitschrift, 1995
A cold spell was observed in March 1987 over Greece, which was characterised by extremely low temperatures and heavy snowfall. The dynamic and thermodynamic characteristics of this rather unusual event are investigated using ECMWF analyses.

Use of wind profiler in severe weather monitoring

open access: yesMeteorologische Zeitschrift, 1998
A 1299 MHz wind profiler was acquired to monitor low level winds near the Hong Kong International Airport. It was found that the equipment was also capable of yielding quality data to support the study of severe weather.
