A Low-Complexity Start–Stop True Random Number Generator for FPGAs

open access: yesApplied Sciences
This paper introduces a low-complexity start–stop true random number generator (TRNG) utilizing jitter in ring oscillators (ROs). Incorporating phase detectors enhances entropy extraction from the same number of ROs.

Design of adaptive matching true random number generator based on thermal noise

open access: yesDianzi Jishu Yingyong, 2018
After studying on the thermal noise model and the matching mechanism of sensitive amplifier, an adaptively matching True Random Number Generator(TRNG) design is proposed.

Ultra-lightweight true random number generators

open access: yesElectronics Letters, 2010
A series of ultra-lightweight digital true random number generators (TRNGs) are presented. These TRNGs are based on the observation that, when a circuit switches from a metastable state to a bi-stable state, the resulting state may be random. Four such circuits with low hardware cost are presented: one uses an XOR gate; one uses a lookup table; one ...

Always Metastable State True Random Number Generator [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of information and communication convergence engineering, 2012
This paper presents an efficient filtering system for a metastable state-based true random number generator. To output a result with high randomness, we use loop-storage for storing the value of metastability. During the metastable state, the output value is accumulated to the storage.

Structural instability impairs function of the UDP‐xylose synthase 1 Ile181Asn variant associated with short‐stature genetic syndrome in humans

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

AAA+ protein unfoldases—the Moirai of the proteome

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
AAA+ unfoldases are essential molecular motors that power protein degradation and disaggregation. This review integrates recent cryo‐electron microscopy (cryo‐EM) structures and single‐molecule biophysical data to reconcile competing models of substrate translocation.

Contactless Electromagnetic Active Attack on Ring Oscillator Based True Random Number Generator

open access: yes, 2012
International audienceTrue random number generators (TRNGs) are ubiquitous in data security as one of basic cryptographic primitives. They are primarily used as generators of con fidential keys, to initialize vectors, to pad values, but also as random ...

PARP inhibition and pharmacological ascorbate demonstrate synergy in castration‐resistant prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pharmacologic ascorbate (vitamin C) increases ROS, disrupts cellular metabolism, and induces DNA damage in CRPC cells. These effects sensitize tumors to PARP inhibition, producing synergistic growth suppression with olaparib in vitro and significantly delayed tumor progression in vivo. Pyruvate rescue confirms ROS‐dependent activity.

Experimental study of quantum random number generator based on two independent lasers [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Quantum random number generator (QRNG) can produce true randomness by utilizing the inherent probabilistic nature of quantum mechanics. Recently, the spontaneous-emission quantum phase noise of the laser has been widely deployed for QRNG, due to its high

Subtype‐specific enhancer RNAs define transcriptional regulators and prognosis in breast cancers

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study employed machine learning methodologies to perform the subtype‐specific classification of RNA‐seq data sets, which are mapped on enhancers from TCGA‐derived breast cancer patients. Their integration with gene expression (referred to as ProxCReAM eRNAs) and chromatin accessibility profiles has the potential to identify lineage‐specific and ...
