Natural killer activity in mice infected with Trypanosoma musculi. [PDF]

open access: yesInfect Immun, 1983
Trypanosoma musculi infection affected natural killer (NK) activity in mice. In the spleen, an increase of two to three times normal was displayed on days 2 to 4 after inoculation of parasites, followed by rapid decline to a subnormal level of activity that persisted for more than 3 weeks and included the phase of rapid parasite elimination.

Further characterization of the curative antibodies in Trypanosoma musculi infection. [PDF]

open access: yesInfect Immun, 1988
The ability of immune plasma (IP) taken from different donor strains of mice to cure Trypanosoma musculi infection in various recipient mouse strains, when given during the plateau phase of infection, was examined. C57BL/6, B10.A/SgSn, B10.D2/oSn, B10.D2/nSn, DBA/2, and BALB/c strains could be cured of parasitemia (giving 0.4 to 0.8 ml of IP per mouse),

Shifting focus from resistance to disease tolerance: A review on hybrid house mice

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 12, Issue 5, May 2022., 2022
Our review shows evidence for hybrid vigor against in the house mouse hybrid zone. This vigor manifests in elevated resistance. We discuss that resistance is not necessarily a linked with fitness and argue that this research should switch its focus to tolerance.

A SURVEY OF ECTO AND ENDO-PARASITES OF HOUSE MOUSE MUS MUSCULUS LINNAEUS, 1758 OF ERBIL CITY, KURDISTAN REGION, IRAQ

open access: yesBulletin of the Iraq Natural History Museum, 2022
In the present survey 18 species of endo and ecto-parasites were recorded during the examination of 50 Mus musculus(Linnaeus, 1758) among 10 localities in Erbil city, of which 7 species were protozoan and as follows : Chilomastix ...

Histopathological and immunocytochemical studies of Trypanosoma musculi infection of mice. [PDF]

open access: yesInfect Immun, 1981
Mice infected with Trypanosoma musculi developed hyperplasia of the spleen, lymph nodes, and liver; in contrast, their thymuses displayed transient involution. All organs returned to normal in a month or less. There was modest anemia, lasting until the parasites were cleared from the bloodstream, followed by a rapid influx of erythrocytes into the ...

Role of Gap Junctions and Hemichannels in Parasitic Infections

open access: yesBioMed Research International, Volume 2013, Issue 1, 2013., 2013
In vertebrates, connexins (Cxs) and pannexins (Panxs) are proteins that form gap junction channels and/or hemichannels located at cell‐cell interfaces and cell surface, respectively. Similar channel types are formed by innexins in invertebrate cells.

Trypanosoma congolense Infections: Induced Nitric Oxide Inhibits Parasite Growth In Vivo

open access: yesJournal of Parasitology Research, Volume 2011, Issue 1, 2011., 2011
Wild‐type (WT) C57BL/6 mice infected intraperitoneally with 5 × 106 Trypanosoma congolense survive for more than 30 days. C57BL/6 mice deficient in inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS−/−) and infected with 103 or 5 × 106 parasites do not control the parasitemia and survive for only 14 ± 7 or 6.8 ± 0.1 days, respectively.

The effect of normal human serum on the mouse trypanosome Trypanosoma musculi in vitro and in vivo [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Trypanosoma musculi, a common blood flagellate found in mice, is similar in morphology and life cycle to the rat trypanosome T. lewisi. Both species belong to the subgenus Herpetosoma, and as T.
