Animal trypanosomoses, transmitted by tsetse flies are a major hindrance to livestock production in sub-Saharan Africa. In infested areas they reduce the livestock production by 50% in terms of meat and milk production. Animal traction is reduced significantly by trypanosomosis and hence the total agricultural production is also reduced by 10%.
