Oxidative stress correlates well with markers of metabolic syndrome in clinically hypothyroid cases: a hospital based study in a remote tribal district

open access: yesRUDN Journal of Medicine, 2021
Relevance. Dislipidemia is one of the major manifestation of thyroid disease process due to alteration of metabolic parameters which are also seen in metabolic syndrome. Though oxidative stress has been implicated in both processes, controversial results

Natural Resistance to Ovarian Hyperstimulation Syndrome in Estrildid Finches Reveals Macrophage GPR183 as a Potential Therapeutic Target

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Ovarian macrophage depletion reverses OHSS resistance in estrildid finches and exacerbates OHSS symptoms in rats. Activating macrophage GPR183 alleviates OHSS by reducing pro‐inflammatory factors, increasing immunomodulatory molecules, remodeling CD44/SDC4‐mediated communication, and restoring immune homeostasis.

Effect of bisphenol S and bisphenol A on morphometric and hormonal changes of thyroid gland and iodine concentration in urine of Wistar rats [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Central European Agriculture
Bisphenol S (BPS) is the major substitute of the endocrine disruptor bisphenol A (BPA). Due to the presence of strong double bonds, BPS is more resistant to biodegradation and therefore more BPS remains in the environment.

Ultrasound‐Activatable Piezoelectric Hydrogel Reprograms Mitochondrial Epigenetics for Osteoarthritis Therapy via the mTOR/GATD3A Axis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
An ultrasound‐activatable piezoelectric hydrogel reprograms chondrocyte mitochondrial epigenetics via the mTOR/GATD3A axis, clearing damaged mitochondria and alleviating osteoarthritis progression in both mouse models and human cartilage explants. ABSTRACT The avascular nature of cartilage hinders drug delivery for osteoarthritis (OA) therapy.

Recent Advances in Functional Liver Volumetry: Emphasis on 99mTc‐GSA SPECT/CT Fusion Imaging

open access: yesAnnals of Gastroenterological Surgery, EarlyView.
Functional liver volumetry enables more accurate assessment of the future liver remnant by integrating anatomical and functional information, improving risk stratification before major hepatectomy. Among available techniques, 99mTc‐GSA SPECT/CT fusion imaging enables precise regional functional assessment and more reliable prediction of post ...

Heterophilic interference of rheumatoid factor in tsh immunometric assay: A cross-sectional observational study

open access: yesIndian Journal of Endocrinology and Metabolism
Introduction: Considering the inherent vulnerability of immunoassays for heterophilic interference and the potential of Rheumatoid Factor (RF) to act as a heterophile-like antibody, we conducted this study to investigate if RF leads to any such ...

A high‐fat diet with vitamin D and propylthiouracil produces a pro‐atherogenic phenotype in rats

open access: yesAnimal Models and Experimental Medicine, EarlyView.
Male Sprague–Dawley rats received a cholesterol‐rich high‐fat diet supplemented with vitamin D and propylthiouracil for 11 weeks. The model induced dyslipidemia (increased total cholesterol/low‐density lipoprotein, decreased triglycerides), inflammation (increased interleukin‐6 and serum amyloid A), hypercalcemia, and reduced circulating endothelial ...

Serum TSH level as a simple efficient tool to assess the risk of thyroid malignancy in euthyroid patients with indeterminate cytology - A cohort study

open access: yesIndian Journal of Endocrinology and Metabolism, 2022
Context: A significant number of fine-needle aspiration cytology (FNAC) for thyroid nodules is reported as indeterminate. Expensive molecular testing can give a clue to the possibility of malignancy in this group.
