Phase IIb Trial for the Palliative Treatment of Patients With Primary Hepatic Malignancy Unable to Receive Curative Treatment: Efficacy of Colchicine

open access: yesThe Kaohsiung Journal of Medical Sciences, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This trial was to evaluate the efficacy and the safety of colchicine for the palliative treatment of patients with primary hepatic malignancy unable to receive curative treatment. Forty hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) patients and two intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma (ICC) patients signed the informed consents.

Clopidogrel-Associated Thrombotic Thrombocytopenic Purpura following Endovascular Treatment of Spontaneous Carotid Artery Dissection

open access: yesJournal of Neurological Surgery Reports, 2015
Thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura (TTP) is a life-threatening multisystem disease secondary to platelet aggregation. We present a patient who developed profound thrombocytopenia and anemia 8 days following initiation of therapy with clopidogrel after ...

Spinoza - Beyond Hobbes and Rousseau [PDF]

open access: yes, 1991
Spinoza is again and again placed as a "political philosopher" on an intellectual line with Hobbes and Rousseau, in most cases closer to the latter.

Nigericin‐Triggered Phosphodynamics in Inflammasome Formation and Pyroptosis

open access: yesPROTEOMICS, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Innate immune signaling relies heavily on phosphorylation cascades to mount effective immune responses. Although traditional innate immune signaling cascades following TLR4 stimulation have been investigated through a temporally quantitative phosphoproteomic lens, far fewer studies have applied these methods to distinct signaling following the

Vitamin B12 deficiency in thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura-like cases

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Case Reports in Internal Medicine
Background: Thrombotic microangiopathies (TMA) are characterized by a triad of microangiopathic hemolytic anemia, thrombocytopenia, and organ damage which occur in the setting of endothelial damage and platelet activation.

Reduced ADAMTS13 activity during TTP remission is associated with stroke in TTP survivors [PDF]

open access: yesBlood, 2019
Abstract This study shows that the increased occurrence of stroke in thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura (TTP) during remission is associated with low ADAMTS13 values.

Frequency and Significance of HIV Infection among Patients Diagnosed with Thrombotic Thrombocytopenic Purpura [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Background. Case series of patients with a diagnosis of thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura (TTP) have reported different frequencies of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection; some series suggest that HIV infection may cause TTP. Methods.

Theory of the beta-type Organic Superconductivity under Uniaxial Compression

open access: yes, 2011
We study theoretically the shift of the superconducting transition temperature (Tc) under uniaxial compression in beta-type organic superconductors, beta-(BEDT-TTF)2I3 and beta-(BDA-TTP)2X[X=SbF6,AsF6], in order to clarify the electron correlation, the ...

A sample size analysis of a mathematical model of longitudinal tumor volume and progression‐free survival for Bayesian individual dynamic predictions in recurrent high‐grade glioma

open access: yesCPT: Pharmacometrics &Systems Pharmacology, Volume 14, Issue 3, Page 495-509, March 2025.
Abstract Patients with recurrent high‐grade glioma (rHGG) have a poor prognosis with median progression‐free survival (PFS) of <7 months. Responses to treatment are heterogenous, suggesting a clinical need for prognostic models. Bayesian data analysis can exploit individual patient follow‐up imaging studies to adaptively predict the risk of progression.
