Identifying TTX Producing Bacteria in Bipalium kewense and Bipalium adventitium

open access: yes
Terrestrial planarians such as Bipalium kewense and B. adventitium contain a neurotoxin called tetrodotoxin (TTX). TTX inhibits voltage-gated sodium channels, which blocks neurotransmission and paralyzes the muscles.
