Effect of Glazing with Different Materials on the Quality of Tuna During Frozen Storage

open access: yesFoods, 2020
This study investigated and determined the changes in various qualities of tuna samples that were glazed with rosmarinic acid, a bamboo leaf antioxidant, and sodium lactate and stored at −18 °C for 180 days.

System Identification of Robotic Fish Swimming Reveals Roles of Reactive and Resistive Fluid Force in Two Distinct Swimming Gaits

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
System identification and particle image velocimetry reveal how a modular robotic fish changes thrust physics across gaits. A traveling‐wave, fish‐like motion draws thrust from resistive drag, while a resonant standing‐wave motion is driven by reactive pressure.

Data collected on tuna spawning survey cruise July 1-20, 1957: data report [PDF]

open access: yes, 1958
Studies of gonads of yellowfin and skipjack tunas (Neothunnus macropterus and Katsuwonus pelamis) carried out by the Inter-American Tropical Tuna Commission indicate that during summer months the offshore area in the region of the Revilla Gigedo Islands ...

Metabolomics and bacterial diversity of packaged yellowfin tuna (Thunnus albacares) and salmon (Salmo salar) show fish species-specific spoilage development during chilled storage.

open access: yesJournal of food microbiology, 2019
Microbial (colony counts, 16S rRNA gene amplification), chemical (pH, 1H NMR spectroscopy) and sensory changes in raw Atlantic Salmon (Salmo salar) and tuna (Thunnus albacares) fillets stored under vacuum at 3 °C were evaluated over a period of 12 days ...

Machine learning for characterizing tropical tuna aggregations under Drifting Fish Aggregating Devices (DFADs) from commercial echosounder buoys data

open access: yesFisheries Research, 2020
The use of echosounder buoys deployed in conjunction with Drifting Fish Aggregating Devices (DFADs) has progressively increased in the tropical tuna purse seine fishery since 2010 as a means of improving fishing efficiency.

Muxama and other traditional food products obtained from tuna in south Portugal and Spain: review and future perspectives [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
There is evidence that consumers perceive fish as healthy (Carlucci D et.al, Appetite 84:212–27,2015; Vanhonacker F et.al, Br Food J 115:508–25,2013; Verbeke W et.al, Public Health Nutr 8:422–9,2005.).

Preparation and Characterization of Gelatin and Antioxidant Peptides from Gelatin Hydrolysate of Skipjack Tuna (Katsuwonus pelamis) Bone Stimulated by in vitro Gastrointestinal Digestion

open access: yesMarine Drugs, 2019
In China, a large amount of fish bones are produced during the processing of tuna cans production. For full use of those by-products, gelatin (STB-G) with a yield of 6.37 ± 0.64% was extracted from skipjack tuna (Katsuwonus pelamis) bone using water at ...

Exploring the Roles of Tuna‐Associated Acinetobacter sp. YFT067: Implications for Host Health and Metabolism

open access: yesAnimal Research and One Health, EarlyView.
This study firstly isolated a tuna‐derived gut probiotic Acinetobacter seifertii YFT067. Dietary administration of YFT067 played significant roles in promoting growth performance, SCFAs production, lipid absorption, and metabolism of the host, indicating YFT067 as a promising probiotic candidate for enhancing tuna aquaculture productivity through ...

Bias-Adjusting Observer Species Composition Estimates of Tuna Caught by Purse-Seiners Using Port-Sampling Data: A Mixed-Effects Modeling Approach Based on Paired Well-Level Data

open access: yesFishes
For large-scale tropical tuna purse-seine fisheries, it is prohibitively costly to obtain adequate sampling coverage to estimate fleet-level catch composition solely from sample data.
