Recent Progress in Understanding the Mechanism of Formate Dehydrogenases

open access: yesChemBioChem, Volume 27, Issue 19, 14 October 2026.
A hydride transfer mechanism for the molybdenum‐ and tungsten‐containing formate dehydrogenases. Recent work concerning the reaction mechanism of the molybdenum‐containing formate dehydrogenases is discussed, focusing on two alternate mechanisms of action for the enzyme involving either formation of CO2 or bicarbonate as the immediate product of the ...

Investigation of a ceramic metal matrix composite functional surface layer manufactured using gas tungsten arc welding [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Wear resistant surfaces with high toughness and impact resistant properties are to be created to improve the life cycle cost of brake discs for trains. A potential solution to this industrial problem is to use an arc cladding process.

Functionalizing Micro‐to‐Mesoscopic Electrode Architectures for Regulating Electron Transfer Behaviors in Electrocatalysis

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, Volume 36, Issue 87, 29 October 2026.
A systematic review is conducted to assess the influence of electrode architecture across micro‐ to mesoscopic length scales on electron‐transfer pathways in electrocatalysis. We discuss the structure‐activity relationships in electrocatalytic applications, including resource recovery and environmental remediation, and provide cost‐effective, efficient

Covalent Functionalization of 2D Semiconductors: A Roadmap to Advanced Electronic Devices

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, Volume 36, Issue 87, 29 October 2026.
This Review presents recent advances in the covalent functionalization strategies for two‐dimensional semiconductors and their implementation in modern technologies. Layered materials are modified through diverse molecular chemistries (e.g., thiols, diazonium salts, alkyl halides, and electron‐deficient species) to tailor their surface properties ...

Zwitterionic Polymer Coating Enabled Chronic Dopamine Sensing and Electrophysiology Recording in Free‐Moving Mice

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, Volume 15, Issue 37, 9 October 2026.
Application of a zwitterionic poly(sulfobetaine methacrylate) (PSB) coating to microelectrode arrays and Ag/AgCl reference electrodes effectively inhibits biofouling and structural degradation. This strategy successfully enables simultaneous, long‐term electrophysiological recording and dopamine sensing in freely behaving mice, facilitating ...

Chromatin Packing Domain Engineering Through the Manipulation of Nuclear Cationic States

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 58, 19 October 2026.
Manipulation of intranuclear divalent cation concentrations rapidly and reversibly remodels chromatin packing domains in living cells. Magnesium depletion disrupts domain compaction, heterochromatin organization, and transcriptional regulation, whereas magnesium loading promotes more compact and stable domains.
