The Turbulent Boundary Layer in a Compressible Fluid [PDF]

open access: yesThe Physics of Fluids, 1964
A transformation is derived from first principles to reduce the boundary-layer equations for a general compressible two-dimensional flow to incompressible form. For the case of boundary-layer flow of a Newtonian fluid past a smooth wall, but with no other restrictions, it is shown that the combination (ρ∞μ∞/ρwμw) CfReθ is an invariant of the ...

Experimental Evaluation of 100Cr6 Steel Microindented Surfaces Under Lubricated Nonconformal Point Contacts

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The tribological behavior of 100Cr6 steel spheres textured via Vickers microindentation is evaluated under lubricated sliding by varying both dimple size and density. Fine and dense textures significantly reduce friction across all lubrication regimes, while large dimples increase it.

A Cloud Top Radiative Cooling Model Coupled With CLUBB in the Community Atmosphere Model: Description and Simulation of Low Clouds

open access: yesJournal of Advances in Modeling Earth Systems, 2019
In this study, a higher‐order closure scheme known as Cloud Layers Unified By Binormals (CLUBB) is coupled with a cloud top radiative cooling scheme (RAD).

Laser Powder Bed Fusion of Alumina: Effects of Scanning Strategies on External and Internal Defects

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study investigates how scanning strategies affect pure alumina in laser powder bed fusion. Linear 45° scanning yields uniform surfaces but high porosity, while the island‐concentric strategy provides higher density with through‐holes favorable for infiltration. Findings highlight pathways toward optimizing defect‐free alumina parts.

Flow along a long thin cylinder [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Two different approaches have been used to calculate turblent flow along a long thin culinder where the flow is aligned with the cylinder. A boundary-layer code is used to predict the mean flow for very long cylinders (length to ratio of up to O(106 ...

Electrochemical Evaluation of Compressed Selective Laser Melted AlSi7Mg and AlSi10Mg Alloys in Chloride Environment

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The corrosion performance of AlSi7Mg and AlSi10Mg alloys produced through selective laser melting (SLM) was examined under compressive stress in a chloride environment. Electrochemical analyses, including open‐circuit potential (OCP), potentiodynamic polarization (CPP), and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), were complemented by scanning ...

Studi Eksperimen dan Numerik Pengaruh Penambahan Vortex Generator pada Airfoil NASA LS-0417

open access: yesJurnal Teknik ITS, 2017
